KEEN Venice H2 Sandal - Men's

Make sure you have the KEEN Men's Venice H2 Sandals on your feet when you're heading to a place where transport by boat represents the norm. Even if you're not in Italy, there are still river-bound adventures to be had. Hop into your raft with assurance knowing that the polyester uppers on the Venice H2 Sandals dry out quickly, and that the Aegis anit-microbial treatment keeps your feet funk-free during a week-long trip. KEEN also gave these sandals a closed-toe design to keep your piggies protected from rocks, sticks, and other riverside obstacles.

Bottom Line: When the boats go in the water, put the Venice sandals on your feet.

Excellent service and a good sandal

By:
January 8, 2007

Items arrived quickly and in good condition. The Venice H2 is to the manufacturers word a good shoe for wet conditions. I am a field guide in East Africa and walking in wet grass the Venice H2 being well ventilated drains and dries out quickly. The rubber toe cap is helpful and I suggest you go for a half to one size bigger as shoes run small.

hiking/lounging/hospital foot love

By:
October 14, 2009

I have owned these for two years and LOVE them. I have worn these hiking over razor sharp Lava fields to secret dive spots here in Hawaii. White Water rafting in Colorado in these was awesome. Don't even bother with open toed sandals. These have saved me from breaking/ cutting/ smashing my toes many times. I'd go with just a half size smaller than your normal shoe size on these...(coming from someone with wide feet even :)) HOSPITAL WORKERS LISTEN!!!! Loose the crocs! These protect better/ are more comfortable/ and breath better---(just wear w/black socks)....BUY THESE IF YOU ARE A NURSE OR TECH WHO SPENDS ALL DAY ON YOUR FEET!!

I've looked at the "dark gray/red rock" color option

I've looked at the "dark gray/red rock" color option on a couple sites and I'm not sure which site has the accurate image for this color. Zappos shows this color option as much darker. See http://zapp.me/7209709 and "dark gray/red rock" is the 5th color swatch. Anyone know what the correct image is (I like the darker color on Zappos, but want to buy from BC)?

I ordered these sandals for my husband with the same trepidation, but have no fear! The gray color on the actual shoes is much darker than is pictured on the backcountry website. The red stripe is pretty mellow as well.

Awesome sandals

By:
July 31, 2009

These are without a doubt my favorite sandals. They are very comfortable and very stable (I ordered up a half-size and have room to spare). They provide excellent traction in most all circumstances (except for slippery river rocks) and do great in and out of the water. They ventilate better than my Newports, but this also means that it is a little easier to get rocks under your feet if you are walking in gravel. I haven't had any problem with them getting funky, even when wearing them day after day. Of course, the toe protection is very nice to have, both when hiking and when wading rivers. Probably the only downside is that my Chacos are now gathering dust in my closet.

Venice H2 Sandals are light weight and offer good ventilation and drainage. The best sandal I have worn out of many.

I need arch support and have been trying to find something in

I need arch support and have been trying to find something in a sandal with the support of a Berkenstock, but the comfort and functionality of a Teva. When I try on anything like this, a Merril for instance, there is never enough arch support for someone like me, who wears phase 4 orthotics in my dress shoes. the Venice looks to be about the best out there that I've seen in this regard, but when is somebody going to really pump up the arches for people like me? There is a huge market out there waiting to be exploited.

Hey Tim,Good call. That is a huge opportunity in this industry. High and low arches are actually a matter of muscle activation but that's a long conversation. I don't know that any manufacturer will ever venture down that road. The best bet would be with a smaller more custom manufacturer that doesn't have a mass produced product. Most large manufacturers want to make the most general fitting shoe to fit the absolute most amount of people. Just a marketing thing I guess. Good topic though!

Function and Protection

By:
July 17, 2008

I live in La Crosse, Wisconsin, which is a Mississippi River town that is surrounded by bluffs and coulees. I bought this sandal to tackle the river, trails, islands, backwaters, and whatever else I could throw at 'em. My first adventure was at 6 Flags Great America and they were flawless. I walked all day in them right out of the box and my feet felt great. They do get a little warm, but all you have to do is flex your toes and get them in the breeze. I don't understand why anyone would want to wear flip-flops, especially in a theme park when you could have some protection, comfort, and somewhat clean feet. Can't wear flip-flops on roller coasters. Since the maiden voyage I have gone fishing and done some yard work as well as everyday tasks in the Keens. They were at home in the boat and never slipped in the water at the boat launch (thanks razor siping!). At home I was shoveling dirt and picking up yard debris after a storm and never felt like I was going to stab my feet. Excellent protection and functionality. Size 11 was dead on for me and that is my usual size. No problems getting them on or off. Getting sand or debris out is as easy as dipping your feet in the water or hosing them out. They are more open than the Newport. If you can't stand a little debris in a sandal after some serious usage than wear boots. I've worn Teva before, but the Keens are more comfortable and have the added protection. I definitely recommend these sandals for land and water.

awesome!

By:
August 9, 2008

i just bought these keens, and they were great! i used them stream-fishing in montana, hiking, and just all around outdoors. they're easy to clean, and they're really durable. they work great on riverbottoms, and grip even on the slippery stuff.

Andeha: it would be wise to size up. i wear a 9.5 and bought a 10, and they worked fine. they fit great, and either way, if they're a little big, you can cinch 'em up...

You could go up 1/2 size but mine ran true to size and I stuck with the same size. They've worked well for me. By the way, mine stretched just a little bit when they'd been wet several times.Hope that helps.

Very comfortable

By:
May 30, 2007

I chose the Venice sandal over the Newport because of increased ventilation. They are very comfortable to walk in-excellent cushioning. It did take a bit to get used to the neoprene lining but now I don't notice it anymore. Only complaint is that the cord lock isn't very tight so after walking in them a while the cord loosens and must be re-tightened.

Take them anywhere

By:
September 1, 2009

Comfortable, great support, perform well in water or on land. The same great quality you can expect from Keens other footwear. Other than the fact that rocks can slip into them and get under your feet, I really can't find anything else I don't like about them.

Nice Zoads . . .

By:
August 21, 2006

We call them zoads (flops), but they're pretty stout for zoads. I mean, you can't exactly sprint in them too much, but they're pretty stable and great all around summer slacker shoes.

The Keen's are much better than the other one on the site.

Sizing Issue

By:
September 25, 2006

I ordered a 9 1/2 (my normal size) and I had to exchange them for a 10, because my toes were up against the front edge of the toecaps. The 10s fit perfectly and were comfortable immediately. This site was fantastic about the exchange.

Great shoes

By:
May 15, 2007

This is the 2nd pair of Keens I have bought for my husband- the first lasted 3 years! He didn't listen to me about needing a larger size, and we ended up having to exchange them, but they are now perfect ( you really do need 1/2 size larger) He fishes flats and saltwater and has yet to slip or have his toes bitten off by an angry kingfish!

Keen Sandles

By:
June 5, 2007

The Venice H2 sandal by Keen is great. Can't say enough good about them. Best sandal I have found. Only problem I have found is that they tend to collect a lot of sand or small rocks in the toe that can't get out. Love the sandal. Will buy more.

Sizing Issues

By:
June 29, 2007

Have a pair of 11.5 Keen shoes but heard to order a half size up so ordered the Newports as a size 12, but still too small. Went to a local store (to try on) and bought a pair of Keen Newport H2 sandals (size 12) that fit fine. Love Keen products, but having to get three different sizes depending on style should not happen.

Runs small...

By:
June 1, 2009

I didn't believe people when they said size up a FULL size. I did a half size - too short. I hated it too because I fell in love with these when I put them on. I tried to talk myself into them fitting, but had to return them for a bigger size. Can't wait for them to get here.

RIVER LIVIN

By:
August 5, 2008

I love my Keens and I just bought another pair. My other Keen sandals have seen countless miles and days white water rafting and hiking in Idaho. I have talked all my friends and family to give up the Chacos and all I see them wear is Keens. Great product thanks Keen.

Great sandals

By:
August 27, 2009

I got these specifically for pushing boats in low water rivers - jumping out and pushing where too shallow. They are great for that (especially the toe area which is usually where sandals are lacking). For everyday use, these are still great - cool and comfortable and didn't require any break in. The only nit I have with them is that I am not a big fan of the shock-cord lace/secure system as I find it hard to get as snug and secure as with other straps.

A good city sandal

By:
August 7, 2008

These sandals are the best. There was no breaking in period, they were comfortable from day one. I didn't buy them for rugged trails; I actually walk all over hard city streets and sidewalks all day and they give my feet fantastic support (I have plantar faschiitis so have to very careful.)

Nice Sandals!

By: Backcountry.com Employee
October 8, 2007

These are the best sandals I've ever owned. They provide the best ankle support I've ever experienced in a sandal. They make excellent boating sandals as they will not fall off if you wind up going for a swim (I know from experience) and the extra ankle support is great for when you need to get out of the boat to hike or scout. I highly recommend these.

Men's Venice H2 Sandal

By:
August 23, 2006

A great sandal from Keen. Bought these sandals for the summer around town and at the beach. An extremely comfortable sandal with good ventilation. Sandals have been through the wash and look great. I bought a 1/2 size larger than my normal shoe size.
If you want a comfortable sandal that protects your toes go with the Keen Venice. To assure you get the shoe you want with the service you expect go with this site. The ordering was simple, the sandals arrived on time, and the price was the best.

I love these sandals. Definitely size up by half. 8.5 fit great when I normally take an 8. I wore these a lot in Hawaii. They dry quickly but feel fine when wet, compared to other sandals that just feel yucky when damp. I would definitely buy another pair if I'm in the market.

I got these because I do a lot of canoeing and you need the rubber bumpers on the toe of the sandals to protect you from rocks. They work like a charm. Very comfortable and appear to be very rugged. I believe these will last a long time.

Perfect Fit & Super Fast Delivery

By:
September 8, 2008

My husband and I both have Keen sandals and wanted a pair for our 17-yr. son (off to Berkeley for college). He's got short but wide feet and has to wear a 8-1/2(4E) to get the width properly fitted. Since the width strap is adjustable, I purchased a size smaller (8) figuring he can expand the width. It did and fits perfectly (we didn't need the extra length on top or bottom!). It's super comfortable (he had foot surgery 2 months ago) and he loves it.

Best shoes I have ever worn... almost

By: Backcountry.com Employee
November 3, 2008

Since getting them a month ago, I have worn them nonstop in this Fall salt lake weather. My feet never overheat in these shoes, and they provide excellent cusion and grip. The anti-microbial finish comes off fast though, but you can wash them very easy. Perfect late spring to early fall shoe. The fit very true to size, if anything. The Venice is noticeably narrower than the Newport H2.

First sliced bread, now these!

By: Backcountry.com Employee
September 8, 2008

I bought these as a replacement to my old Tevas that unfortunately were getting a bit funky, even after being cleaned. After wearing these any time that I'm able to, I can say that these have been an awesome investment. They're very comfortable, easy to slip on and off, attractive and can be used for just about anything. I would recommend sizing up a half size if possible as it seems that most Keens are a bit snug fitting otherwise.

perfect summer/water sandal

By: Backcountry.com Employee
June 20, 2007

Easy on/off sandal with great fit, toe protection, and ventilation. Break in time real quick, no worries about having stiff sandal for whole summer before they feel good.
Work great for playing on the shore & jumping in/out of boats or day at the lake. They don't slip while walking around in water and dry out quickly.
Great sandal after long hikes and casual wear. Surprised how well they grip on dry rock/flat surfaces.
Not designed for hiking w/pack but perfect for everyday use and summer play to keep your feet cool. These don't have the top foot support of Newports but do keep your feet much cooler.
Sizing was true for me, wear 10.5 and fit good. No funky gaps which worry me when I order sandals. Nothing to be disappointed about here, very happy.
