KEEN integrates softshell technology into trail-ready footwear with the Men's Shellrock WP Trail Running Shoes. Their softshell exteriors work with waterproof breathable eVENT inserts to provide total water protection and supreme breathability. The Shellrock WP Trail Running Shoes also have a stiff S3 heel support structure to keep your ankles protected and supported as you cruise down the roughest trails around.
These are the best fitting, most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. The extra roomy toe box makes such a difference in added comfort. The snow and dirt just beeds off the outer material. They look great! Cons just to be objective would be a little lacking in tread although durable and you may need an arch support. I would still highly recommend this shoe and buy another pair. KEEN makes shoes that actually fit my feet!!
I usually buy the Soloman XA Pro 3D Gortex shoes, have been for years. Decided to give the Keens a try, but for overall traction, waterproof-ness, comfort and support, they don't compare to the Solomans. These shoes would be good for someone with a really wide foot, otherwise, they are just marginal in comfort and support. Not a good running shoe unless you wear really thick socks.
Though I am prone to bad luck, this is my second pair of Keen's that have had the stitching rip within a few uses -- a 50% failure rate. In this case the stitching around the top of the left foot has ripped/come undone. Also, a little plastic piece where the laces go through the shoe broke. I bought these less than a month ago and have used them <=10 times. The fit was good; I like the extra roomy toe box. But I cannot waste money on shoes that will fall apart. I'm starting to doubt the quality control of Keens in general.
I love keens, every shoe i own is a keen(that's not an exaggeration). They fit nicely and are EXTREMELY light. They make my feet look smaller, hard to do for a size 12.
They run a little small for a Keen. I usually wear an 11.5 but had to return those for a 12 because they were a too tight. They are also MUCH narrower for a Keen. I got used to my Fat feet being roomy in Keen's this is not the case with the Shellrock, that and the sole is a little different from a standard keen.
I wouldn't trade them for the world but if you have wide feet you may consider going a half size up from your normal Keen.
I buy alot of Keens because they tend to run wide and they are amazingly comfortable. I ordered a 10 which is what I usually wear. they were tight and narrow. Also I have a high instep, these shoes aren't the best for my feet. I gave it 3 stars because the issues have nothing to do with the quality of the shoe (they are very well made), just the fit.
I have a wide foot so finding a good shoe can be a problem. These shoe are gold for my size 12,wide foot. Also being a bigger guy I've put them to the test on some pretty long day hikes. I've found you can never go wrong with a Keen Shoe.
GREAT SHOE!! Definitely order a half size larger and you will have a perfect fit right out of the box. I did a light four mile jog the second day I wore them with no issues. I am not a runner though so don't use that as a basis for purchase. If you are looking for a do everything shoe I say pull the trigger on this one. I am stationed in Germany with a mild climate (mid August 75 degrees) so I can't comment on how well the shoe will feel in the heat.
This shoe is quite amazing out of the box. And very light too! You can barely tell they are on your feet. I wear a 10 in all shoes mostly and this one fits true to size, but does run just a tad on the smaller side like the others said. I ordered the 10 and it fits very nice. The toe box is roomy, yet offers great protection when you kick that hidden rock while hiking or scrambling. Speaking of scrambling, the grip on this shoe is substantial for those looking for a shoe to run around mesas in the desert or climb up sketch inclines while hiking. The shoe does fit very low on the ankle, so do not buy this shoe if you are looking for high ankle support. Overall, a great job on design for this shoe. I would highly recommend this shoe to others looking for a great waterproof hiking, running, or scrambling shoe.
