Even in a well-maintained boat, the chances of getting your feet wet are extremely good. If you're getting in and out of a kayak or canoe, there's no avoiding it. Enter the Keen Newport H2 Sandal. The Newport H2 protects your toes from rigging and rocks, and its sole grips deck and ground without leaving marks. The fully synthetic hydrophobic uppers guarantee your feet will feel dry minutes after stepping out of the water. The Newport H2's hybrid shoe/sandal design breathes better than a full shoe and protects your foot better than a sandal. The unique anatomical outsole gives superb traction and support, and an anti-bacterial footbed controls moisture and keeps the stank under control.
Bottom Line: The sea is a harsh master, so bring good shoes.
We love Keens! This is my third pair of Newport H2s and I recommend them to everyone that I know. All three of my kids have a pair, as does my husband. The cool thing about them is that you can wear them right out of the box w/o a break-in period. I highly recommend ordering 1/2 a size larger than you normally wear in other shoes for the best fit. We hiked all over Kauai in our Keens that arrived just days b4 our trip. I wouldn't buy any other shoe for the summer. Closed toe makes them a perfect shoe for hikes. No more stubbed toe tips! Foot bed is designed for comfort and as someone who walks everywhere, I couldn't live w/o my Keens! Be well!
My family and I wore these on a one-year trip around the world. They were our only shoes, and worked great. (My daughter did grow out of hers toward the end of the trip.) Highly recommended. If your feet smell, they will smell in these.
Just before Christmas there was a miss print on backcountry's website which I would have loved to taken advantage of. After a short/polite email to them stating where the miss print was--I got a personal phone call the very next day from an amazing backcountry representative stating they were willing to honor that "way too good of a price" on these KEEN sandals. The representative went out of his way to make my experience ideal and even though I'm a regular customer--I never expected this good of treatment!BUY FROM BACKCOUNTRY AND ALL THEIR AFFILIATED "DEAL OF THE DAY" SITES!!!PS: my wife loves the sandals!!!
So here is the whole story. The sandals are listed for $44.98 on the right side menu linked to backcountry.com from steepandcheap.com. There are not a timed deal, but a supplemental offer. When you select the link, it brings you to this page of backcountry.com with a price of $75.96-$94.95. I asked a "gear expert" about this discrepancy. He was "OMG" about it and "ran to his supervisor". They agreed to give me the price as quoted on steepandcheap, but only because their technical group had screwed up on the steepandcheap ad. This guy did me a BIG favour and allowed me to purchase these sandals, but only in the colour that was featured on steepandcheap. The sandals have been featured, without correction for the past week. Soooo, either these folks have been manipulative in getting me to purchase the sandals, or they continue to post an erroneous price on steepandcheap, so, if you would like these sandals at a "less than cost" price ... have at it!
That's how Steep and Cheap works. It's one deal at a time for about 20 minutes or until inventory runs out, marked down from 50-80%. You only get the discounted price on SAC if you catch it before the time runs out.
This picture was taken last week in Mexico and yes I am wearing my Keen Newports. I had never tried to wash them before and the results were great and they dried very quickly. I wear them year round since they are the only shoes that don't hurt my feet.
I love Keen Sandals. This is my third pair. The first two ones I wore until they gave up completely. I had the Newport model in leather before. I wore them to the Road of Santiago, and to two long trips to India. They had more than 6,000 km before they sadly expired...This new style doesn't bother my feet at all. I had to use my leather newport for about two months before they felt as good as this one brand new. So far, three hiking trips and 6 hours of intense biking and I don't have any complains.Love them! Can't have enough of them... I wish it were socially acceptable to wear them everywhere!BTW love the color!
Comfortable footbed always feels great, even several years later. I've worn mine into the ground but esp. in the summer. I get lots of compliments. Mine fit spot-on for sizing (7 1/2) and I wear them everywhere -- errands, light hikes, to work, around the house. I highly recommend them, I just wish they still made them in Lilac!
Yes! Just throw them in the washing machine, I usually put detergent in to about level "1" (you know, the detergent caps have 1, 2, 3?) and wash them on cold, then let them sit in the sun to dry. They come sparkling clean and it won't damage them. BUT! They do need to be a water sandal! If you have like a leather shoe, then no washing machine, but any of the newports, venice or other water shoe/sandal styles are completely machine washable. Enjoy!
Needed a water shoe that would double as a hiking shoe for a week long trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. These were the only shoes I brought. Pros: good arch support, footbed molded to the shape of your foot, waterproof, nice ventilation, good toe-protection. Cons: smelly feet, tiny pebbles sometimes get trapped under toes and feet, if you submerge shoes in water the fabric under the webbing stays wet for a while. To me, the good outweighs the bad, and were/are worth the money.
I bought these for a trip to Israel. They were the perfect shoes. I wore them in water, and walked many miles of uneven terrain throughout the country and in the city of Jerusalem. Other people were slipping and sliding down inclines, but my shoes held steady and allowed me to walk in all conditions sure-footed. Love the color, too.
I had to return the shoes and it cost me $10.00 in postage. Bummer.. I ordered a size 9 and than they were too short. I usually wear a size 8 and 1/2 to size 9 but they were still too short. And, by the time I got them there were no more size 9 and 1/2's and I was on my way to the ocean for a week of vacation. But my tevas that can't be killed saved the day.
I know these are *water* shoes, but I bought them to hike in, thinking they would cool off my feet. ... Every time I wear them hiking I think, "Why did I wear these? They have no traction!" ... Recently I was belaying a climber and the only place to stand was on an incline comprised of dry, hard-packed dirt covered with a sprinkling of pebbles and loose dirt. I was very unhappy and nervous about wearing these particular shoes at that time, and I did slip just trying to walk to the base of the rock wall to get into position. ... The times I have worn these hiking on slightly steep to moderately steep terrain, they have mostly aggravated me, especially on the trek down. These are *not* good in the dry, Utah mts. where there's a thin layer of loose dirt & pebbles on top of hard packed dirt, as previously described. ... My bad choice.
I've had similar experiences. I also find that in any kind of loose material (i.e. pebbles), I get sand, grit and pebbles in the shoe and have to keep taking them off and shaking them out. Nobody else in my family has this problem in the same Keens.
This is my 7th pair of keens. I've got sneakers, work shoes, sandals, flip flips.....This specific style needs an extra 1/2 size up. I didn't believe the other reviews. All my Keens are the same size. Then I ordered the kiwi in 7.5 and they didn't fit! Searched all over for an 8 and finally found them. Keens! Way to go!
These shoes are awesomely comfortable and very true to size. I am a perfect 7.5, and they fit perfectly. The toe is roomy, but not too wide. They breathe really well, and offer support and spring. I am a total cheapskate when it comes to shoes, so spending this much on a pair of sandals was a bit of a stretch for me, but they are worth EVERY PENNY!
These are not easy to slip on my foot, as the back heel strap doesn't have much play. I have to loosen the front straps all the way and it is still a bit of a battle. This isn't a reason not to buy these--they are GREAT shoes and it is worth the hassle. If yours are tight to get on, don't give up, just loosen them all the way. They have improved a little over time.
Did I mention these are great shoes? I was looking for something that could handle getting wet but could also take me over trails and off trails. From beach to mountain, these fit the bill with ease. They are a little heavy when you hold them, but don't feel heavy to wear.
Bought these and also Venice H2. Just didn't work for me. Too hot. Wore them once and couldn't stand it. My feet were just not happy. Then I put on the Venice H2- wow, what a difference. Much cooler, more comfortable.
I have worn these hiking, shopping and fishing and find them to be a great all-around sandal! I was worried they'd be too hot with the closed in toe, but they are way airier than hikers and they protect you from stubbed toes! Love them! Even got my husband a pair of Keen's!
I wear these shoes everywhere. I can't wear them without someone wanting to know where I got them! We hike the slot canyons of Southern Utah and I don't know how I ever did it without them! They are exactly what I needed!
Everywhere I go people want to know where I got those cool shoes. They are so comfortable I wear them everywhere! We hike the slot canyons of Southern Utah, and these shoes are a dream come true! Don't know how I ever did it without them!
These sandals are perfect for trekking in the rivers and slot canyons of Utah. I'd suggest buying a half-size larger than normal, or just keep your toe nails really short. I have wide feet, and never had a problem breaking them in. Rocks find their way in, but less then you'd expect. I love them.
When I first saw these, I thought they were really ugly, but the more I saw people wearing them, the more I liked the look. They seemed like they would be great for walking and playing around water, so I decided to give them a try. They are great--very comfortable and quick drying when you get them wet.
When I first saw these in the stores, I thought they were really ugly! Then I went to Hawaii and saw people wearing them everywhere--on the sidewalk, on the muddy hiking trails, in the water. I started to like how they look. When I got home, I decided I had to give them a try. Now I really like them--the way they look and feel and the fact that they are so versatile. One tip I can provide is that I found that the lighter colored ones tend to make your feet look wider/bigger. If your worried about your feet looking big, go with a darker color.
Any suggestions on water sandals for wide feet/high arch? Needs to be covered toe, but cool for summer. Help! Tried the Keen Newport but too narrow, and too tight through arch area.
I wear these canoeing, camping, hiking and at work as a camera operator. They are so incredibly comfortable - and aren't as clunky/heavy as Tivas - that I have them in two colors so I can switch them out. I have the navy blue and black. The navy blue is not quite as purple-y as the picture listed above, in my opinion.
I usually wear a smaller sandal size than my close-toed shoes, so I found these accurate to size. Although you should size up if you're not sure - you do not want your toes bumping the Keen-classic rubber toe bed.
Cannot recommend these shoes highly enough. When I go canoe-camping, I bring these and a pair of hiking boots and that's it. They have great grip and support, even on steep mountain hikes in Idaho.
These are not great for tromping through litter or trails with lots of sand/stones. They will get in, rattle around underfoot, and be painful. Also, if you wear them a lot, they get stinky. I toss mine in the washer occasionally.
The only downside? The funky tan stripes you get from wearing them every day in summer :)
I have 4 pairs (not including the pair that the dogs ate and the pair that I wore out) of the H2s - so I guess that means I really really really like them! The best summer shoe ever! And the color selection rocks!!
Obviously, I love the Newport H2 sandals. I bought this third pair (Slate black/Canton) because I had a 15-hour charity walk coming up and felt the other two pair (plus an older pair of Venice H2s) didn't have as much cushion in the footbed as I wanted anymore. (and there was this awesome new color! LOL)
I'm used to Newports requiring zero break in time, but this pair had an area up in the toe box that rubbed a lot. I'm getting used to it now. They just weren't constructed as well as they used to be. The double layering seemed to overlap a little sloppy.
Overall, these are the same great sandals I love. I live in Keen year round and don't wear anything else. I wear hikers and shoes from Keen in the winter here in Wisconsin and sandals all summer. Our backpacking and hiking trips to New Mexico find me in Newports and Venice sandals.
I order a half size up for most of their styles for the best fit.
I have gotten lots of positive comments when wearing these sandals. These are so much more comfortable than the other sport sandals I've had. Granted, they aren't city chic, but who cares?
With narrow feet this particular pair of Keen's will most likely be too wide for you. My friend w/ narrow feet tried on both and went with Ahnu; you are able to tighten those better as well.
I was nervous about the different fit of Keens with the 'toe ridge' on the footbed inside but they have turned out to be amazingly comfortable shoes. I wore them for a solid week at the beach and then just for walks. The cinch cord customizes the fit which is true to size, with a generous width. The footbed is soft and supportive and not sweaty feeling. I got these for a whitewater rafting trip later this summer but realize I will be wearing them for many other activities as well.
I wear womens size 7.5 or 8 medium-width shoes, depending on the brand, and found size 8 to be a perfect fit. I wear these to hike relatively tame sandy gravel trails around Phoenix, and really appreciate the air circulation in the summer heat! I was concerned about protecting a tender bunion without wearing socks, and these sandals do a great job no rubbing in the heel or anywhere from the first wearing. The wide sole creates a nice bumper all the way around to protect your foot. The footbed is cushy & flexible adequate for moderately rocky paths, but I wouldnt say the sole is rigid enough to do any serious scrambling over sharp rocks. The elastic bungee cord is infinitely adjustable to whatever fit you need over the instep. The rubber toe prevents painful toe stubs. I use gel pads between some toes that tend to rub together, and the straps on these sandals are sufficiently close together to keep the pads from slipping out. Small pebbles do find their way into the footbed, but when necessary, most can be shaken out without removing the sandals. I havent tried it, but I would guess that walking in deep sand might be a bit unpleasant. When I get home, I just hose the dust off and let them air dry. They may not be glamorous, but they meet or exceed every requirement I had for comfort & protection.
I first discovered these shoes in Montana. We live in Florida and these are my favorite shoes. From boating to surf fishing to yard work to casual wear, they are awesome! People ask all the time where I got them and they are a hot commodity. They are comfortable and dry quickly but most of all, they are a must for people with an active lifestyle in and around water who want a shoe that keeps your foot safe and stable in wet environments.
I had to order a 1/2 size larger than I normally wear in sandals, and they still were a bit snug. I believe they should be snug, but these are very hard to put on, and especially to take off when wet. I found that using baby oil on the back of my foot helped to get them on. Other than that, they are great! I love the color, true to the pictures, and I love the style, I received many compliments on these water shoes. I used them in Hawaii on the rocky shores, they were perfect.
These sandals have made it thru Hurricanes Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne! My mother affectionately named them my "Gladiator" shoes. I thought it was appropriate, so it stuck. I knew these sandals would be functional, but I really thought they were ugly! My friend Dave says, "Shoes should look like feet and feet are ugly!" Despite this, they have grown on me because they are so comfortable and now I think they are actually pretty! The footbed stays surprisingly clean. The upper dries quickly. I've logged over 20 miles on the beach and on the trail and have remained blister-free. I did experience some discomfort across the top of my foot initially, but that was prior to my getting the shock cord lacing adjusted properly. The only negative I can think of is the sand and loose dirt that collects in the toe, but that's an easy trade-off for the protection you get.
The sandals are well made, very comfortable and provide protection without being too confining. I choose these over Teva's or chaco's (my kid's favorite) due the enclosed front to protect toes-using them for Kayaking, being able to walk anywhere in the water and land as needed without injuring toes! And yet, very good for water sports and walking!
KEEN might have retail outlets in Australia or sell at some local stores, but Backcountry only has one store and one warehouse, both in Salt Lake City, Utah. You'll have to check out KEEN's website to see if they have anything in your area.
The sandals are very comfortable, although when wearing them to the beach, sand does get trapped in the toe area which can be annoying. They are also not as easy to slip on/off as I had hoped, but overall I am satisfied with my purchase.
I am very pleased with my purchase. Although I have very wide feet, these shoes were so comfortable...felt like a gym shoe. Didn't even have to break them in. They were a little tricky to get on at first, but once I got the hang of it they're a piece of cake. I would highly recommend these to anyone.
I ordered these shoes true to my size and am glad I did because they fit great and are so comfortable right out of the box! Luckily I have a job where I can wear them, because I will love to be in them all day long this summer.
I just bought a pair of Keen Newport H2 sandals and think they are too cool for words. The bright blue periwinkle colors are perfect for a day at the beach walking along the water or wearing with shorts. They are comfortable, stylish in a cross country bike type of manner and ready for any day's worth of action. They also have decent arch support.
I have had a pair of nubuck Newports in midnight for almost a year and been very impresses with their durability. They still look new. I love the new lilac color and had to have them. The H2's I needed in a size larger than the nubucks. When the nubucks get smelly I put them in the washing machine. I don't know if that will work with the H2's.
Unknowlingly you have given me an answer to my problem!I only recently bought a pair of these sandals and I am having a hard time wearing them in. While I have found them comfortable with socks (defeats the purpose), when I walked for the first time yesterday without socks, I found the toe bed far too rough for my big toes (perhaps I have tender skin) and I was visibly limping after a couple of kms. After reading your question, I inserted a gel innersole and they feel wonderful, HOWEVER, these are only a few mm thick & I have quite flat feet, so I really don't think the normal hard orthotic device would fit. But thank you anyway for saving my Newports from being very expensive white elephants.
These are the best sandals for any outside activities especially those involving water. I was actually about to order some more sandals by T... when I saw these. If you worry about hurting your feet (especially your toes) you will worry no more. They are so comfortable you'll wonder how you've been without them.
I had been looking for the perfect pair of boating/fishing shoes. I wanted shoes that would not be too hot yet would cover my toes and offer stability. I love the Keen H2s. They are perfectly comfortable. My boyfriend liked them so much that he ordered a pair for himself. This is a perfect pair of shoes for any outside enthusiast.
I love 'em! I put them to the test right away with a day of hiking and river stomping. They are so comfortable, and I love the roomy, well protected toe area!
If I could exist in these shoes alone, I would. They are awesome looking, comfortable, versatile, and they don't stink! For sizing, I would recommend going a 1/2 size bigger than your foot truly is. I am a true 9 1/2, although I frequently wear a 9 because half sizes are not available. I tried a 9 1/2 in the Keen and found the 10 to be what I really needed. My only other advice is that you give yourself a few days to get used to the feel of the footbed. I hardly take these off and will have to buy some other colors so my wardrobe doesn't go dormant.
I have never gotten so many complements on a pair of sandals before! They are comfortable as well as good looking! You do need to order one size bigger (I usually wear 7 1/2, but 8 1/2 fits me perfectly). I love them! One problem I have to deal with is odor because the "antibacterial" footbed seems not to be quite antibacterial on sweaty barefeet of mine. Otherwise, I am very happy with them.
I bought these a few weeks ago and Ive taken numerous walks and semi-gnarly hikes, plus I stood around for six hours at a concert. These sandals are very comfortable. Going through light dirt does end up with pebbles on the footbedwhat sandal doesn't? If you have warm feet, these might seem hotter, but after sprinkling some dust on the footbed, my feet were comfy.
These are cool but they run about a half size to a size small and I can see how they'd cause blisters quickly. Give yourself a bit to break them in before using them for something hardcore.
I have had these shoes for over a year - they are the best thing ever! They are the only footwear I take out of the country - versatile for walking anywhere, light hiking, and climbing, and even for more rugged uses - like trudging through caves in river beds. They clean up easily and are incredibly quick drying....even in humidity Highly recommended!!
I love these sandals for walking or light hiking. I took them to the Bahamas and we walked all over the island in them. They're great for that. One note though, they aren't so great on the beach. They'll pick up sand, but you have to take the sandals off to get it out, due to the closed toe.
I bought these shoes to where on a trip and they are very comfortable. The only thing I didn't like was after I had gotten a little bit of water on them they smelt awful. I really only got to use them one time because now they stink badly, and I can't get rid of the odor. Also, while I was walking I was constantly stopping every few steps to empty the sandals of rocks, they slide in very easily. I'm really disappointed because these weren't cheap sandals. I thought they would be of a much better quality and I would get more use out of them.
I have two pairs of newports- one pair smells horribly, the other doesn't at all. I found a tea tree oil based shoe/foot spray for the stinky pair and it works really well, I wash them and then spray them down and they're fine for several trips. It is annoying, I thought they wouldn't smell, but I still love them so the tea tree oil stuff works pretty well.
Write your question here...why does the add say that the KEEN Newport H2 sandal-women's is 50% off if when I go to check out the discount is not added in?
Aaron,A lot of times when you see a price range (On Sale: $44.98 - $94.95) the sale price is only for certain colors. In this case, Process Blue/Yellow in sizes 9.0 and 10.0 are currently on sale.Mahalo, Sumo
I love everything about these sandals! I can wear them with just about anything casual! They are stylish, very comfortable and I can even walk at a decent pace in them for a couple of miles. I have had a lot of compliments on them too. I would recommend them to everyone.
The shoes are worth every penny I spent on them. They are comfortable and function just as they are described. I even wore them to a local theme park for the entire day, in and out of water rides and lots of walkingthe shoes were comfortable! Love them!
This is a go anywhere shoe (walking, bike riding, in the water, camping, fishing, shopping, etc.). I'd say order a half size up. Very flexible, comfortable, breathable, can get wet and protects your toes. Backcountry is a great company with great customer service!
I used the Newport H2 Sandal to float down the Yampa River. It was terrific when I had to push off of logs to avoid them. I used the shoes as paddles to get myself to the center of the river. I felt quite secure when I walked on the river bottom when entering and leaving the river.
We bought a pair for every one in the family and love them! Very comfortable, durable, washable. I only wish they were more quick drying. Highly recommend them.
I got these primarily to wear at work where I have to run up and down a lot of stairs and sandals without toe protection tend to trip me up. They fill the need in that area and are really comfortable. The color was brighter than I expected (kiwi is kind of a neon lime) and they are hotter than I expected.
re KEEN Newport H2 Sandal - Women's Item #KEN0004 navy dream color: 1. will the fabric shrink after time 2. i compared the photo on your site (which appeared somewhat dark purple) with that on keenfootwear.com (which appeared to be a lighter navy blue with a touch of purple), if you can compare and tell me which photo is more accurate
I've owned my Keen Newport H2s for about 2 years now and have gotten them wet and dried them out many times. 1. I haven't noticed any shrinkage, but I buy my shoes a little bit loose. (These run small). The lace system takes up plenty of slack if you buy a bit big.2. I've compared the Navy colored Newport H2s on this web page with the picture at http://www.keenfootwear.com/product_detail.aspx?sku=510230 and with my own older pair of Newport H2s. I think the backcountry.com image is more accurate. But my shoes are a couple of years old so maybe Keen has brightened up the blue. Not a definitive answer, but my 2 cents.
Great sandals, although they don't run quite as small as some reviews on this site have suggested (IMO). I ordered a full size larger than normal, based on other reviews, but definitely could have gotten away with just a half size larger. Still, they are fabulous and incredibly comfortable!!
This was my second pair. I had to buy 1 1/2 sizes larger than a dress shoe for correct fit. I do love these and wore my first pair every day (really) for a month of travel in Thailand. Not a single blister and easy to slip on & off for temple visits.
My wife absolutely loves them. They are the most comfortable shoes she has ever worn. I have to buy her some San Antonios now. I've been wearing KEENs for a few years now. Highly recommend them. Backcountry is awsome.
I've not wore them outdoors yet, but, I love the protection & comfort they give my feet! I can't wait to use them in Africa, which is why I bought them!
I love my Keen Newport H2 Sandals! I bought them just before my trip to Costa Rica, and they were perfect for rafting, playing in waterfalls, & a hike through the jungle that included walking through creeks, climbing rocks & heading down trails. The open back does allow debris to get under your feet, but it's also easily removed. When the humidity was high, it took them almost 2 days to completely dry out, but otherwise they dried in a day. They were still comfortable to wear when damp, due to the neoprene lining under the cloth. As suggested on other reviews, I ordered a half size larger than usual to get a good fit.
I bought these just before a tropical vacation, hoping that they would work as dual purpose sandals/sneakers.
I chose this model over the similar "Venice" because the Newport offers more support. The trade-off is that they are less open and airy than the Venice. I ended up being happy with my choice -- these shoes truly do give a sneaker-like support and comfort. No blisters, no break-in. Rinse off under a garden hose when necessary and they look as good as new.
I walked a LOT during my vacation, with no foot problems at all. Also got several compliments on these somewhat goofy looking shoes. I actually thought they looked pretty good with a beach dress!
I had been forewarned about the stinky feet issue but decided to try them and see what happened. For both my son and I the stinky feet really was an issue! After hiking around Yellowstone & the Tetons in them my feet were all but banned from the family car. At our next destination I stopped at a drugstore & picked up some foot deodorizing powder that worked well to take care of the problem--I just put some in each time I took my Keens off. (Dr. Scholl's Odor Destroyer Shoe Shot in a yellow container). If I am not wearing them day after day they don't seem to smell too much and I can forego the powder. Washing them didn't help much, just took care of the immediate problem but they would still get stinky after a while of wearing them.
They are very durable, great to hike in, then fish in (wonderful for river fishing)and still comfortable after they get wet. There are so many colors to choose from (I have had six different colors)!
Stupidly I ignored the other reviews to order up because I knew my size in other styles of Keens. My size was way tight and hurt my feet after just a few minutes. I had to send them back and got a 1/2 size up. This new pair is awesome. All 5 in my family has this pair of shoes...love them!!!
I've been wanting a pair of these forever and couldn't pass up the great deal. Very comfy, but did have to break them in a little. Buy a 1/2 size up to give you plenty of room, even if worn without socks.
These are the shoes I've been looking for, for 3 years now. I hae tried several shoes for hiking/casual/water. Everytime I find shoes that are good for one thing but not everything. These are comfortable from day 1. They are great for casual walks and I actually didn't get ANY blisters when I wore them on a short hike. I give these shoes a big thumbs up! Bye-bye heel blisters!
Love the fit, the look, and the no scuff soles! My mum came to visit and hijacked them. I had to fight to keep them when she left. She's now deciding which color to buy herself. Two Thumbs Up!
These are the only sandals that I have found that are sooo easy on my feet and look great, too. I have problem feet, and these Newport H2s have plenty of width for the toes, and are super comfortable and have real nice support in the footbed. I wear them everywhere, including riding my mountain bike in the summer. Any dirt, dust or water hoses right off, and they are set to go again. I own kiwi, navy, and the hot new green color. Just love them. My 4th pair, at least 4 years old, are relegated to gardening and painting. They are stained with paint, and are beginning to show their age, but are still in one piece. They just don't wear out. I am a KEEN shoe lover, own many styles, love them all!
Bought these for my wife for all round, gettin around. Great for climbing approaches, greates thing is protecting the toes. Make sure you size them right they can cause some toe pain if they are sized too small.
I read several reviews about the Newport sizing prior to purchasing, and I agree that you should definitely buy these Keens a half sizer larger than one's normal size. This seemed to apply to both men's & women's sizing (I bought a 10.5 for my husband, who normally wears a 10, and an 8.5 for myself, since I am normally an 8). These were great for beach adventures & water sports, as well as for some light hiking. The colors can be pretty crazy, which is fun!
Backcountry shipped these very quickly and perfectly packaged, too.
My daughter had told me that Keen Newport sandals were the top choice of camp counselors. Her Keen's survived her 2nd summer as a counselor thru river walks and wilderness camping.
So I bought my pair. Love them. Got compliments on the plum color. They are great for working around the yard and house.
You guys delivered sooner than expected. Best on-line vendor.
I love these! They are perfect for kayaking because they protect your toes while letting water circulate. The anti-odor footbed works well, as long as you always let them dry in the sun if they get wet. They get a lot of attention, and people are constantly asking me where I got them. They are as comfy as crocs, too!
Buying from these guys is great; you really know what you're getting and when you're getting it. However, if you don't know exactly what you want before you order it, it can be a big hassle. Therefore, before you buy, know this about Keen Sandals: they run half a size small and are only comfortable when half a size larger than you would normally wear. To put that all together: order them a full size larger and go down from there. This site does have a nice return policy so if you have to send them back its ok, but do it as soon as possible so that you can get you're new shoes as soon as possible.
Ok well just over all these shoes are awesome!!! You can use them for hiking, canoeing, and casual it like all the things u need in a shoe. And they are comfortable in the inside.
I like to wear these hiking in the summer and had a hard time on some trail surfaces (smooth rock, loose dirt/gravel) with these soles. They slipped. Aside from that, they were pretty comfortable.
I love my keens... totally comfortable and easy to clean. I recommend these to anyone wanting the protection of a hiking shoe, with the air and breathability of a sandal.
I am a total high heel girl...so these were obviously not my style. However, I needed something to get me through the rainy season in Panama and Costa Rica. These will definitely do the trick. They are extremely comfortable, quick drying, and way less ugly in person than online. I wear them all the time.
Having a narrow foot, I found the sandal just too floppy and wide. Actually it was half an inch too wide. Ask for a style that is more suitable if you wear an A width!
I was so excited to get a new pair of Newport H2s because my feet are so happy in these but I'm wiping away the tears now as I go to get a return authorization and pay freight to have them shipped back. The color is not even close to the image pictured and I wouldn't have anything to wear this light turquoise color with. I shouldn't have strayed from Zappos... free freight both ways and their images are more accurate! Newports get 5 stars in my book, tho...
These shoes caused blisters the first few times I wore them. As for the sizing, I usually wear an 8 1/2 but I bought a 9 1/2 in these. I also found that the colour in the image was nothing like the actual colour of the shoe. I wouldn't recommend buying these as shoes for the beach. Once the sand gets in, it's not easy to get back out without taking off the shoe. I do however like the shoe and would consider buying it again.
These shoes are the best. Very comfy. Very light-weight. I read some reviews before I bought them and they said they run about a half size small. Well, I got some in my regular size, and sure enough, they were a half size small. Other than that, they are PERFECT.
Which, trust me, is a miracle for me. These fit my feet just right, I bought a 7 with no issues. Also bought a pair for my daughter (who at 5 is ultra-fussy about shoes); between the two of them I've barely taken them off. You should see the groovy tan lines I've acquired ...

My family and I wore these on a one-year trip around the world. They were our only shoes, and worked great. (My daughter did grow out of hers toward the end of the trip.) Highly recommended. If your feet smell, they will smell in these.
