KEEN Maupin Sandal - Men's - 2008

Take the Keen Men's Maupin Sandal through the rapids, on hikes, and around town. This burly sandal loves the water, and its multi-directional lugs grip slippery rock and sloppy trail. The Maupin Sandals' webbed straps tighten smoothly and securely, and the soft synthetic leather backing prevents the straps from digging into to your feet. EVA midsoles cushion and absorb impact while you tromp up trails. KEEN constructed the Maupin Sandals to fight bacteria and foot funk and defy damage during washings.

Bottom Line: River rats and trail travelers take the Maupin Sandals on their summer adventures.

Best Ever

I really love these sandals. So far I was using TEVA's but decidede to give KEEN a trial.
They are very comfortable and they do fit better than any of my TEVA's.
Backcountry shipped prompt and service was excellent.

The next generation flip-flop!

By:

OK. I admit it. I like sandals, and wear them year-round. And not just for bumming around town, but also for hiking, flyfishing, etc. This is a nice sandal. The Keen footbed is (for me) very comfortable. But, really, this shoe feels like a more stable flip-flop. They fit fairly loosely, but the extra straps do keep them from falling off (and provide some more stability). If I am going to be doing some serious scrambling, I'd prefer either a Chaco Z2 (which has better lateral stability) or a Keen Newport. And if I'm going to be frequently in and out of water, I'd prefer a sandal that fits a little tighter, and has a little better (wet) traction. But otherwise, the Maupin is comfortable, moderately stable, and has decent traction.

Keen quality, not my style

By:
March 24, 2009

I was on the fence before ordering these off SAC, and now I'll be sending them back. They are Keen quality and styling, but there is something about the toe strap with Chaco style ankle straps that are a strange mix for me. Keen offers several different sandals so I'll be ordering a different pair when i figure out which one will be a better fit for my style. I think the Black Olive/Deep Lichen is a sick color, probably would have kept them if i wasn't looking for a little more toe stability for mild hiking. Oh, and they fit TTS.

Great!

I have loved these sandals. I have a kind of wide foot, and it usually takes a couple of weeks for shoes to be really comfortable on me, but these were broken in in a few days. Much lighter than chacos, much more durable than tevas. For me, these are a happy medium.
