Wrap your feet in the Keen Women's Chamonix Winter Boots' waterproof suede or full-grain leather uppers. These boots block moisture while you make your way around the snowy city, and their boiled wool linings maintain warmth. Keen gave these uniquely styled winter boots supportive anatomical footbeds so your feet feel as good as they look. A patented rubber toe bumper shields your posies from the pain of stubs.
Bottom Line: These Keen winter boots give you après-ski style and function from Chamonix to Whistler.
Warm and waterproof enough for how I use them, which definitely includes snow use. They are a little shorter than I imagined and I thought the velcro was a little strange at first, but I am very happy with them. In fact, I have worn them everyday since I got them. I have not had snow come in from the velcro as another person mentioned. Easy on and off and they look a lot more stylish than a lot of waterproof/ lined boots out there.
I ordered these boots during the summer but that didn't stop me from breaking them in...which didn't take but a week or so. I ordered a half size up which was perfect even with thicker socks. The only problem I have is that they are hard to get into, & the ankle is a little inflexible. But once you're in, the shoe fits like a dream. Also they breath nicely for being a fully leather.
Wondering how much support these boots have in the sole. Are they very flexible or somewhat sturdy with a harder sole? I have a bad toe and need a shoe with a lot of support that is not too flexible in the ball of the foot region. The picture makes it look like they are not as sturdy as other Keens.
Very warm. Indeed, they are waterproof, except for a strange flaw in the design. The velcro makes it really easy to take them on and off. However, below the elastic that goes around the back of the heel, there is no velcro, nor is there a seam of any kind. Thus, snow can work its way into your boot. Thankfully, they are so warm, that it doesn't always matter, but I wouldn't go stepping into any puddles just because these boots are supposed to be waterproof.
All in all, they are pretty decent day-to-day urban fall/winter boots. They are very convenient to slip on and off and they're quite warm. If you have to trudge through deep snow regularly, these are not the boots for you. They are great for urban winters, where it can get icy, and the streets get cleared.
I suggest going up half size bigger than what you normally wear, but I do find the Chamonix to be probably on the larger side of the traditional Keen sizing. I'd still order half size up than normal, better slightly bigger than smaller!!
I've had my Chamonix for a few weeks, and I have to say, I am very pleased. Similarly to previous Keen experiences, absolutely no break-in was required - comfy right from the start. I ordered 1/2 a size bigger than I normally would, and would recommend it, particularly if you layer up for winter. My big qualm with these is the poor treads. I would have expected Keen to put more substantial treads on winter boots. Not great for slippery walks.
Very comfortable, casual boots that look great with jeans. They didn't require any breaking in. As a matter of fact, the first time I wore them, I was on my feet all day and it felt like I was wearing slippers! The only problem I had was a little trouble getting them on and off (even with the velcro), but once they were on, they were fine. I normally wear a size 7.5 and that's what I ordered, but I suggest if you want to wear thicker socks, to go up a half a size.
Just what I was looking for. A boot that slides on easy for my quick winter excursions to the store or to run some errands. The boot is high enough to keep the snow out. This boot does run a bit small need a full size larger to get the proper fit.
I put off writing this review because I like the way Keen shoes & this boot look, but.......the fit is terrible! All of Keen's shoes for USA sizes run short and too wide. Knowing that I still went ahead and ordered them. The biggest disappointment is that the inside heel has a depression (giving me one, too) which makes the fit and feel even worse. The treads are useless for slippery streets. Why couldn't they put the usually great soles on the bottom? And while the fabric may be waterproof, the hook-and-loop opening allows water to get inside the boot. They're not that warm either. buyer beware!
I would have loved to keep them, very comfortable and well fitted, but they do not have any room to tuck my jeans in - which was a must for this purchase - so I returned them.
Great boots. Too bad I listened to previous review and ordered 1/2 size larger the first time around. My normal size is perfect and only took a couple of hours to break in. I agree the tread could be deeper but haven't had too much trouble with winter walking in mountain town. Cute and comfortable.
I love Keen! But I hated these boots and returned them. They are hard to get on and off, but don't actually feel tight when you are wearing them. They are comfortable on the soles of your feet, but what I could not stand was the fabric inside. It irritated the bare skin on my legs like crazy! My socks don't go up far enough and I wasn't wearing all of my pants tucked into the boots.
I considered trying to hook up some other protective fabric somehow inside, but then I remembered how much I paid for them, and realized at that price, they should feel great, which they don't. Sorry Keen.
I never order shoes without trying them on first, but decided to try it this time. A friend owns a pair of these boots and loves them, and I liked the way they looked. Following previous reviews, I ordered a half size larger than my normal size, which was good advice. I love the boots. They were comfortable from day one. I wouldn't wear them in puddles, but they worked fine in rain or snow. I have had no problem with snow sneaking in the opening around the velcro. I have received many compliments on my boots, but most importantly, I practically live in them. As the weather warms up, I'm disappointed that I have to put them away for several months.
I really like these boots, I just wish they were warmer for standing outside for long periods of time. That being said I wore them all winter and didn't get wet feet once. The nice thing about them not being too warm is that you can wear them all day and your feet aren't sweating and they are great for the shoulder seasons when it's still a little too cold for sandals. They other thing i really like about the boots is that they look great with everything. As always with Keen I had to size up 1 whole size.
