The Keen Women's Chamonix Shoe lets you wear supple leather without worrying about water damage. These slip-ons' waterproof leather uppers couldn't care less about puddles. Keen constructed the Chamonix with removable anatomical footbeds that support your feet while you make the long walk back to your condo from an outdoor concert. The boiled wool lining feels warm and toasty when colder weather rolls in; the toe bumper protects your foot from frontal attacks.
Bottom Line: The Keen Chamonix Shoe is a leather slip-on that can handle your active lifestyle.
I have a pair of Keen sandals that I've been wearing for a couple years now and just adore.. most comfy things ever. Needless to say I'm very disappointed by the Chamonix. They look cool, but are so uncomfortable I actually limp in them. The problem comes from the seem between the pieces of leather that comes up the side of the shoe. It rubs pretty harshly against the side of my feet. I've never had this problem in a shoe before so I wore them 2 or 3 times, hoping to break them in, to no avail. I can't even use them at the office, walking around between cubicles. I'll definitely be returning these... :(
I agree, the footbed is not the same as other Keen shoes. They feel a bit different (but not uncomfortable) so maybe it's because the bottom is so flat. I've only worn them a few times (on wet and snowy pavement) and did not find them slippery at all. Overall I'm very pleased with this shoe.
I think this shoe is comfortable and good for walking around. I have not yet had the opportunity to test the waterproofing. However, I wish the insole was the usual Keen insole with a lot of arch support. These shoes have a ton of heel cushioning and very little under the ball of the foot and the arch.
Ordered these for my girlfriend for xmas. She's usually in between a size 7 and 7.5 so I bought her a 7. They fit, but were snug so we got her a 7.5 to compare. She wound up keeping the 7's as the next size up slid to much in the heel. I'm guessing the shoes will loosen up over time.
THEN, my mom saw them over the holidays and liked them so I bought her a pair as well. She tried on the 7's (my girlfriend's pair) and thought they were too snug. So, we got her the 7.5. She received them and had the same problem of them being too loose in the heel. Now she is returning the 7.5's for the 7's. The moral of this story...I think these shoes are supposed to be a little snug (especially before they are broken in), so don't be too concerned if they are.
This is my first pair of Keen shoes. I have narrow feet and have steered away from them after trying on a pair of sandals a few years ago (which were huge on me). I saw the Chamonix on Backcountry and thought that they looked unique and somewhat narrower than the typical Keen. I took a chance and ordered them in my regular size, 8.5. These fit wonderfully and don't feel too wide. My heels do slip up in the heels when I walk, but has not been a problem after wearing them on an almost daily basis for a month since I've gotten them (no blisters or pain) and this always happens when I wear slip on shoes. These are supposed to be waterproof, but I sprayed them with a waterproof barrier just in case. I have one issue with the Chamonix, which is that the soles have no traction! I have almost face planted quite a few times when dashing for a train, or even just brisk walking. Despite this issue, I will continue to wear them because they're some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I bought some traction stick-ons and hope that will do the trick. Pros: Comfortable, Warm (with plain cotton socks), Waterproof (so far anyway), Cute style Cons: Lack of traction on the soles
I bought these shoes because I have a couple other pairs of Keens that are great when you have to be on your feet for multiple hours. These shoes do not have the awesome footbed that some of their other shoes have. If you just need a casual slip in shoes these are fine....If you stand or walk alot...not so good. The traction on the bottom is pretty weak and very slick in wet conditions.
Shoe is very comfortable, fits true to size, wore the shoes first couple of days without socks,no problems.Overall great shoe. This was my first pair of Keen shoes..
I love these shoes. My daughter loved mine so I bought her a pair as well. They are "funky looking" and people notice them and are very complimentary. They are extremely comfortable and great in New England where there is often snow or ice on the ground. The treads hold me steady. I own them in both black and olive.
I bought these shoes because my daughter has a pair and bragged about them constantly. I actually bought them in brown and black and bought her the black ones for Christmas because she thinks they are so great. I just started wearing mine and agree with her. I've already received compliments and I find them to be very attractive and comfortable. I think they are a nice looking casual shoe. I would definitely buy them again.
I wear Keen on a regular basis. (Keen Newports are the only shoes to hold up all summer, through scorching sun, puddles and miles of use.) However, Keen Chamonix are a different beast starting with the fit, which is very snug but comfortable. Because most people are familiar with Keen sandals, such as Newport, Napali and Laguna, they perhaps expect a shoe their foot has room to move in. Chamonix is not that shoe. Its sole is also less rugged than other Keens. It is, however, good looking in a Hobbit/Elf sort of way, which is why I fell in love with it. Boldly ignoring everyone's posts to order half a size larger (I sneakily had tried them on at a local shoe shop prior to ordering online at great savings), I ordered my usual size of 7.5. The shoe fit, but the snigness took some getting used to. However, I love them. They are comfy but best worn indoors or at casual occasions. I have a feeling they won't do well on the trail (lack of support being a concern) with their thin sole, which is why they get 4 out of 5 stars. That's what wool socks and Newport's are for...
I normally wear a size 7 but I ordered a 7.5 on the recommendation of another customer review. They were too big so I exchanged them for a size 7 since I really like the style. The size 7 came and they are not comfortable at all! I wore them for maybe three hours--walking to class from my car, in class, and back to my car--and they gave me a big blister on my heal even with a thick pair of socks. They fit in the length, but the toe (with the rubber overlay) was too narrow in depth. These shoes are super cute, and I'm very disappointed that they do not fit me at all. I would not recommend these shoes based on my experience with them.
The shoes, while I still love the style, were not quite as comfortable as those I had tried on in a store. Also, the leather seemed more worn than those I had tried on at the store.
I've had many compliments on how they look, they are very unique looking....I LOVE THEM...I feel like I've owned them for a long time. very comfortable...tight at first but loosened up very quickly...Also - not so easy to get your foot in at first, but you get used to it.... Order a 1/2 size bigger.... Very waterproof. I would highly recommend to anyone.
