When it precipitates, grab the Keen Men's Austin Shoes and head to class without getting your feet wet. The waterproof leather uppers ward off rain and snow, so your dogs stay dry. The moisture-wicking synthetic lining moves perspiration away from your foot, and the Classic Oxford Lace Design gives you an intelligent look.
Bottom Line: Casual shoes that keep out the wet stuff—the Keen Austin Shoe.
This is a great casual shoe for wearing around town, especially in bad weather. Very comfortable insole. Totally waterproof, so they're ideal for the rain or snowy conditions. On top of that, they're stylish, so you don't look like you're wearing rain boots in town.
These shoes are definitely on the wider side and there is plenty of excess room in the toes area. Now my toes love the extra breathing room. These are incredibly durable shoes.
When I first was told about keen I was very doubtful that a shoe that looked this weird would be that comfortable but after a year of almost every day, I will swear by Keens. They are awesome. I am on my feet almost all day and they never hurt after a long day. Heads up, the keens fit a wider foot. My wife has a very narrow foot and she does not like how they feel.
These are one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever put on. Right out of the box I wore them for a long weekend as my only shoes (er, non-ski boots that is) and my feet have been thanking me ever since! Wearing them around town has caused a few stares, but they just don't know what they're missing....
I bought these shoes based on the comfort I get from my other Keen shoes, including the Newport (rated 5) and Portsmouth (5) models. I am disappointed in their over-stiffness and slightly sloppy feel. The inner sole liner retains moisture after a long day at the office that I've never experienced in a shoe. Good looking, but not the most comfortable Keen for sure.
Hey Dale,Depends on what type of protection you're looking for. If it's for waterproofing and keeping the natural moistures in then look at Nikwax products here: http://www.backcountry.com/store/NIK0032/Nikwax-Waterproofing-Paste-Wax.html If you're looking at just protecting them from some basic moisture look at: http://www.backcountry.com/store/NIK0046/Nikwax-Fabric-Leather-Spray-Footwear-Treatment.htmlBoth of those products have their purpose and work very well for what they're intended!Hope that helps.
Great shoe to wear to the office. I needed something dressier than running shoes but wanted the option of having a shoe I could walk to work in. This shoe fits the need perfectly. Found the shoe to fit even though I wear wide in my running shoe. Also have keen sandals I wear on the mountain bike, great shoes
I have very high arches, my wife has flatish feet. Since finding Keen sandals, we have both added to our types of Keens. They are awesomely comfortable in all of their manifestations. The casual shoes I just purchased are, like their sandal and hiking shoe cousins, very comfortable.
i feel the size is true. i am a 9.5 in most brands and that is true with this shoe and keen. the toe box is generous but i find it more comfortable than sloppy.I normally wear an 11, but for KEENs I wear 10. They run a bit wider than the average shoe which is PERFECT for me (I usually wear a 10W, but go with an 11 if the 10W is not available).
I wear these shoes to the office almost everyday and have worn them on light hikes, in the rain, in the mud, and everywhere in between. They can handle anything and feel great and look great through it all. These definitely won't be my last pair of Keens!
These are my third pair, As with my others, and all shoes for that matter, I purchased these by the foot. My first pair were the Briggs mesh and I had to have the front sides repaired by a cobbler as they blew out on the sides by the big and little toe, but they're still comfortable and light, and my favorite. For a sturdier shoe, I bought the Bandon, but too warm for me for non winter use. So I bought a Bandon look-a-like, these Austin shoes and what a nice compromise, lighter and feel a little sturdier than the Briggs. I should own stock in Keen. Great shoes, my size 12 is a perfect true to size fit.
I bought my first pair of Keen shoes almost two years ago as shoe that would pass in business meetings, but also be comfortable enough to wear all day as I travel in China looking at factories and walking alot. Two years and many trips, these shoes are still comfortable, still going strong, and looking good. I will be getting a new pair soon as the tread is almost gone from the bottom. Great shoes, great company highly recommended.
But I love these shoes. Comfort galore, from the great fit and smooth inner liner. The ugly duckling look from the large toe box, takes getting used to, but I can live with the odd look of the shoe because it fits so well and feels so good. Great for bike riding because the laces aren't flappin in the wind and into the chain. I'm glad I took the leap of faith and purchased these shoes.
As much as I love Keen products, I have to say that these are the ugliest shoes I have ever purchased. Sure they are waterproof, but they're still hideous to look at. A little stiff as well. The top of the shoe naturally creased just in front of my arch and it kills my right foot. Unfortunately, I will be returning them shortly.
There are very few shoes that I've purchased that after 2 weeks of ownership, I say. "I would buy these again." Every feature of the shoes work. A fusion of minimalism and technogadgetry...from the AT to the board room. I just hope they don't discontinue them before my first pair wears out.
Similar to reviewer Josh, I was originally looking for the Keen Boston, I think it was. No matter. This is my fourth pair of Keens and is definitely not my last. While I like my others, they serve different purposes than this casual shoe. Regardless, this is the most comfortable pair of shoes I remember wearing. They're great.
