First tried for long hiking in fall to test approach-ability. Heavy for a hiking boot but light for an ice boot, it hiked like a heavy duty hiking boot. Comfortable, and like all Kaylands, the sole worked well for edging and smearing. On ice, the effecient lacing system allowed me to overtighten and create cold feet. Loosened a bit and was fine. At +10, I wouldn't say they were warm, but they are light boots, not overnighters. On ice then are the most agile and precise, flexible enough for footwork and stiff enough for support. Event lining is equal to GoreTex and the mini-gaiters built-in keeps the snow and water out even after several stream crossings. Never got wet. I found the size to be accurate 10.5 US, but these are a little narrower than my Vertigo High hiking boots. I give two thumbs up. Will slip on supergaiter if it gets too cold. I understand from the name that M11 means mixed, not expedition. I found the sole to be fully rigid but the almost rocker and close fit allowed normal stride for hiking. B.D. and Grivel crampon bails fit without adjustment.

Nimble, light, warm. True to size. Medium volume. Great crampon fit. All around great alpine performer.
