K2 Kung Fujas Alpine Ski - 2008

Miss your chance at the old K2 Seth? Well, the Kung Fujas is about as close as you're going to get to that magic mid-fat twin-tip design. Pep Fujas' 2009 pro model ski is a tiny bit slimmer (95mm in the waist down from 98) but brings the same easy-flexing, torsionally stiff versatility that made the old Seth shine everywhere from big AK faces to tight trees and monster terrain parks. A nearly symmetrical sidecut makes going switch second nature without sacrificing forward stability, and a fully-wrapped solid fir core plows through crud like a brick through a window. So go ahead—pick up the Kung Fujas and pick a line. Two of the best skiers in the universe have been there before you, on the very same planks.

Bottom Line: We can smell a legendary ski a mile away, and the Kung Fujas just reeks.

Thinking about getting back on skis after a long 12 year hiatus

Thinking about getting back on skis after a long 12 year hiatus on my snowboard. I pulled my old boards out (K2 X-Screams) and thought about using them this season. They are old, but only have about 10 days of use on them. However, I have a case of GAS (gear acquistion syndrom) and want new skis. I used to be an agressive, all mountian skier. I love to ski the tress and steeps. I am 6'3", 200 pounds. Is this ski too much for me to get back into skiing? Is the 189 cm going to be too long for the trees? Thanks, Kevin.

Hey guys i bought these skies last year and I absolutely love them. These are K2's Pep Fujas pro model and work great from corduroy to powder. I rode them for 3 days straight at Breckenridge and I rode them hard. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great pair of twin tips who wants to ride the whole mountain

189s too much? I moved out to VT last year, and I am looking to upgrade my sticks. I mainly ski Mad River Glenn, with an occasional trip up to Jay Peak. Right now, I am skiing some old 181 K2 Apaches. I am an aggressive, experienced skier, and I handle that length fine. I am Thinking about getting the 189 K2 Kung Fujas... is the 189 going to be too much out here? I am 6'0 185lbs, and I like bumps and trees, and hit the backcountry a lot.

No it really should not be too much. If the 180 is good, then the 189 should be fine. Just remember that they ride shorter too, since they are twin tips.

I would NOT go with a center mount if they're going to be your powder skis.
Mount them 1-2-3 or even 4 cm back from center.
If your skiing mainly all mountain, and some park, that would be my advice.

i am 5'7 140 and i got the 169 and loved them. They are great for switch riding in pow and even though its not a super fat ski it still floats like one and it does great on the groomer. If you like stiffer skis then I wouldnt get this one it is really soft but still stable.

I am looking for a solid all mountain one ski quiver and had

I am looking for a solid all mountain one ski quiver and had been looking at the Line Prophet 100 before the K2 Kung Fujas. Most shops are completely sold out of the Prophets, and I like the Fujas model because of the twin tip and becuase it's a little cheaper and lighter. I was wondering if anyone has an opinion if this is a good choice of ski.I'm 6'2, 160 pounds and a fast, agressive skier. I ski all mountain up in the Alberta and B.C rockies where we get around 30 feet of snow: mostly open bowls, bumps, a bit of trees, rip groomers, and want a ski that can handle a bit of park before going in for apres' beers. Any size suggestions? I Was thinking of the 179...

I know a few guys that rip northern BC Rockies in all conditions in these skis, and they always tell me that they never need another ski. They float plenty in the pow, and never struggle until you are in like, waist deep. They stomp it in the park too, making solid landing platforms for huge booters. The 179 should be good for your size too.

I want to put a Marker Griffon Binding on this ski, anyone know what brake size I should get? It's a 126/95/120 so a 110mm right? Just need to make sure. Also, can you recommend another binding?

By:

Price wise, the Griffons are a much more expensive option.
I have a pair of Look px12 jibs and they work really well for me and didn't hurt the pocket.
Yes, Griffons are the best option, but the Px12s are a lot cheaper and are still a good sturdy park binding with a wide brake option.

Yeah, the 110mm brake is the one that fits, or else you could bend out the 90mm brake. Either way. The Look PX 12 is a sick binding as well, but with a longer, more traditional footprint on the ski.

Great skis for every type of snow for a powerful agressive skier

By:
December 29, 2008

These skis are great. They float great in the powder and carve well in the crud and groomed even does ok in east coast ice. Only thing is you'll look like a dumb@$$ if you have these and don't ski well or don't kill it in the park or powder. Also the laminate on the top is veryyyyy easy to ruin. Other than that, a friggin awesome ski.

Sicko All MTN

By:
April 28, 2009

This is a great ski. I used it in Jackson Hole all season and it was unreal in most conditions. From deep backcountry pow to sick park jibs, the Kung Fujas brings it. But considering the uber sick shred sessions I had all over the Tetons, I would have preferred a little bit stiffer of a ski. The Kungs are a bit flimsy for charging the steep and deeps. But for the most part a great ski, that should be unbelievable on less extreme mountains. Like every other mountain in the country.

I'm 6'2'' and ~ 205lb. I ski 174 K2 PE's, a little short I know, but it's working out for my everyday ski. I'm looking to get something bigger and more as an east coast powder ski, but something I could potentially ski everyday> My PE's are getting fixed, and I was in the market anyways for a new ski....Is this ski too much for east coast? I'm not the best on the mountain, but I handle my own. I like skiing trees, so I need the ski to be relatively quick. Would like it to bomb groomers and choppy stuff, and I do some limited stuff in the park. Is this a good fit? Also, should I go the 189?

By:

Flag

The 189 might be a little much for east coast, especially if you aren't super experienced on the mountain. The 179 might be a better option, because of the quicker turning the trees, and the swing if you want to take it into the park. But this ski is definitely an all mountain ski, that can handle everyday skiing on groomers or in pow.

By:

This will still totally kill it on the groomed runs. I would bet this ski would carve groomers better than your scratches, and it will be a way better ski in the pow. The extra width will definitely help you out. I'd say this is a great ski for you.

By:

I would definitely say that a 189 would be WAY too big. K2 actually run long, so a 189 K2 would be HUGE! If you want more ski for extra floatation or something, you should pick a ski with a wider platform such as the ObSETHed. I'm about 5'10" also, and the 179 is way over my head. If you are getting this ski for sure, the 179 would be a much better option for you. You could honestly get away with a 169 because they run big, but if you want it a little longer stick to the 179. 189 would be ridiculous if you're 5'10". That's not how the ski is designed to be sized.

I don't know much about the Fujas, but if you're comparing it to the S2's, you might want to consider looking at some of the other Rossis as well. I know the S2 product description says its built with the Weight Reduction System, but I'm not sure that's accurate. From what I can tell, the S2 is based off last year's Ghetto Pro, which means no weight reduction, hence the price difference between the S2 and S4. If you're looking for a really light ski, I'd compare the Fujas to the S4. It's a little wider than the S2, and is super light. However, if you don't spend tons of time in the park, it might prove to be a little too light, when it comes to powering through crud. I'd also recommend looking at the S5. It's built off last year's Brigade (formerly Scratch BC) and with a 98mm waist is probably the closest in size to the K2 Fujas. Hope that helps.

The kung fujas is basicly the 06-07 seth ski, good all mountain ski, fairly soft but skis real well, about the only complaint about it is that it is heavy. This ski is similar to the line blend that you were looking at before, except a little thinner, I would choose the 09 blend over this ski, but it is a solid choice. If you want a ski thats different take a look at the momment tahoe, hand made in renoe,nv-- solid skis also look at the liberty hazemat- made in colorado, about 95 in the waist but uses a bambo core, super light, really a fun ski, tons of energy in it, It would be my personal choice for a allmountain ski. good searching.

Its time for a new pair of sticks and im really considering these.

Its time for a new pair of sticks and im really considering these. I skied on 174 2007 Foils as my All mountain skis the last two years but they are in need of a replacement. I liked them, but they didnt ski switch as great as the VCT's i had owned. I am need of a ski that will ski anything, I ski AK and CO (live in AK) and i own some powder boards already. When i take my kids out on the weekends i have to be able to hit the groomers fast with them. In between checkin up on the kiddos ill hit north face up for some fresh, or go hit the terrain park, or just hit groomers with my buddies in tow. Im torn between this ski, the 09 blend, the prophet 100, and for some reason the Salomon Lord. Only reason i like the lord is it seems to be basically a salomon foil with a wood core and some tiny rocker. Is this basically the same ski as the old Seth?? It seems to be basically but i am worried it is too soft to go fast on groomers.Oh yeah, im 5'11" 195lbs. Planned on getting the 179

By:

Flag

Yes it is, but it would be a good all mountain ski but kind of heavy, The new lord is way stiffer then the old foil and is not a tru twintip, just a slight raised tail for the masses. If you already have powder boards I would for the 09 blend, Its the most freestyle ski of the group, and would be the best in the park. The 90 and lord are great on groomers but not so much in the park, The 100's are awesome but a more big mountain ski but they rip on groomers also. For something different take a look at the MOMMENT TAHOE"S they are fun in the park and stiff enough to kill it on the groomers and super light.

It would work fine for all around sking, but if you were more into sking all that powder that you get, you might want to get something wider. I don,t know what you ski now but i would get something around 100mm to 115mm to float in it. But if you are sking average width ski,s now the kung fujas might be a great step up.
