K2 Mt. Baker Randonnee Ski - 2006

K2 developed the Mt. Baker Randonnee Ski to take on the variety of backcountry conditions in the Washington mountain by the same name. The Mt. Baker Ski's 88mm waist is wide enough to float the fluff while still providing enough power and control to get the job done on “Cascade Concrete.” Its fast E-4000 base provides the speed to rip your favorite backcountry bowl a new one, and the firm Titanal metal laminate construction provides the stiffness you need in the worst backcountry mank you find. No matter the snow condition, the K2 Mt. Baker Randonnee Ski is ready. *Available for US shipment only.

Bottom Line: Take on any backcountry snow conditions with the K2 Mt. Baker Randonnee Ski.

Mt Baker AT Ski

By:

K2 sizes their skis long. Skied the Mt Baker in Pac Northwest Powder, boot top to just below the knee followed by crud. Smooth, stable, very easy to ski. Seemed very easy to be centered on this ski. For a big ski seemed to have a light swing weight. Equally nice in the crud and groomed out areas. Fitted with Diamir FR Plus. These skis can also carve!

K2 Baker 181

I waited all season until they went on sale and the wait was worth it! I'm a big guy over 200lb and with a pack these skis rip! They can make a great short radius round turn in the powder, something missing in many of the "big mountain" skis. Good float and great turns what more could you ask for. I highly recomend the Baker.

great ski

I agree w/ the previous reviews about the versatility of this ski. It throws down carves like you wouldn't believe on hard pack, even w/ freerides I had a blast and they felt stable.
Tried them out this past weekend in variable snow, powder/heavy snow/crust and they handled well.
Not too good on ice.
I love them.

Great Design = Great All Mountain Ski.

Well-designed all around skis. I spent an early season day at A-Basin CO with these sticks and was very impressed. On groomers, they carve surprisingly well. I was expecting them to be a little washy, nope! I was also impressed by how light they are, with Targa T-9s. I bought the Mt. Bakers for
powder mostly, but after my outing the other day, I may just play with these everywhere.
I work in Snowmass CO for the winter and will be on these almost every day this season. How they hold up with full-time use is yet to be seen but so far so good. I got them a bit cheaper but well worth this price. :-)

More versatile than one would expect

I found the Mt Baker to be a ski that I can take pretty much anywhere. Floats in powder, busts through crud, slices through windpack and carves a surprisingly strong GS turn on hardpack. Only negative is that it is a bit slippy on ice - due to its width I guess. Not a ski for slow cruising, but with some speed and aggressiveness you are riding a winner.
