K2 Sahale Randonnee Ski - 2006

The K2 Sahale Randonnee Ski is an ultralight touring ski designed for long tours, multi-day expeditions and randonnee races. Developed by renowned first-decensionist Andrew McLean, who lives for long hauls in the backcountry, the Sahale weighs in at a mere 1100g. You'll breeze through your approaches and remain energized for the descent. Even though this ski is light, it performs when pointed downhill—McLean used the Sahale to rack up first descents on Baffin Island's tight, high-consequence couloirs. The balanced swing weight and precise edge hold provided by the damp wood core and 2in-wide, tip-to-tail carbon strip instill confidence when you need it on gnarly descents. *Available for US shipment only.

Bottom Line: Blaze uphill and descend with confidence on the Sahale.

So far so good

I got a couple of days in VT this spring on these boys. Uber-light, super-stiff on still-frozen corn snow. Very skiable, holds a good edge on hard pack and very easy to do jump turns. They perform reasonably well in pow, but don't get them in the manky stuff; they have very little dampening to help you cut through it. Overall a very light ski for super-long days, hard/steep snow, and touring.

K2 Sahale touring ski - top notch!!

By:

I recently purchased a set of K2 Sahale 167cm skis online, and fitted new Diamir Freeride bindings to them. I have only had a chance to try them over several days downhill in Utah and Colorado on mixed terrain. The performance was impressive on ice, groomed, and deep knee/crotch high powder. Extremely lightweight and looking forward to taking them into the hills back in NZ.
