K2 Coomback Ski

In honor of one of the greatest ski guides of all time K2 created the go-anywhere, do-anything Coomba Ski. Fat in the waist, rockered in the tip and ready to rip, this fir-core ski loves the deep days, but makes lemonade when Nature serves up lemons. K2’s skin clip arch takes the hassel out of keeping skins locked onto the tail of the Coomba when you’re stomping out a skin track, and the powder-specific rockered tip takes the thigh-burn out of laps in the pow.

Bottom Line: Ready to ski anywhere.

I'm 6'2" 180. Have skiied the world Piste '06 188's with
G3 bindings. Looking for a good all mountain ski that can float the Northwest cement and still resort hard pack. Is this the ski and what size.

The big difference is that this year's version comes with tip rocker for extra flotation in powder.

I'm looking to retire my old long skis from the 90's

I'm looking to retire my old long skis from the 90's and look into the AT option. Any suggestions on what I may look for. I have been skiing since the 70's. Like to ski steep and fast. Not a kid anymore but in good shape.

You're looking at it. These are a solid, burly ski for AT and anything else.

I'm the same size and I ski the 181's in last years ski. I love them and defenitely wouldn't ski any shorter. Adding rocker should also help some. I say go for the 181 and they won't disappoint!!!

Personally, unless you happen to like your skis on the short side, I would say go with the 181's. You will get good float in the pow and stability with speeds. It'll be good for the backcountry too.

Anyone know how the rocker on the Coomback compares to lat year's

Anyone know how the rocker on the Coomback compares to lat year's Anti-Piste? Some say it's the same, others say it's different....

The coomback is a combination of the coomba and anti-piste last year. Which were actually really similar skis to begin with. The anti-piste had a very subtle tip rocker and the coomba had a slightly stiffer core. The comback combines the coomba's slightly stiffer core and the anti-pistes subtle tip rocker=coomback.

2 Questions: I'm looking for a versatile ski for backcountry

2 Questions: I'm looking for a versatile ski for backcountry AT as well as skiing resort powder/tight trees in Steamboat. Is this the ski for me or should I be looking at the K2 Sidestash/others? Second: What's the best size for my needs? (I'm 5'6", 175lbs)

ICELantic Nomads, Seth Vicious, and the Coomback all come to mind. Something right around 100mm under foot seems to the be the sweetspot for a BC/resort pow set-up. I would go with a 170-175 unless you rip pretty good. You're heavy enough for a 180, but could be a bit long for 5'6", esp for the boat's tight trees.

Why not just get the hardside or sidestash then. Hardside is only 4mm skinnier and sidestash is 6mm wider and both are sidewall/metal laminate skis. I'm sure one of those would fit your needs if you wanted a similar ski. Or just get a black diamond verdict. Similar dims, not a twin, and considerably stiffer if thats what you want. Just a few ideas.
