K2 Apache Sidewinder Ski w/ Marker MX 12.0 Binding - 2008

Slither down the slopes at breakneck speed, then snake your way through the trees like a water moccasin after a possum when you ski the K2 Apache Sidewinder Ski w/ Marker MX 12.0 Binding. The Sidewinder cuts it up on-piste like Fred Astair on meth, then powers through crud, chop, and poof with the wrathful fury of a biblical plague. K2 gave this all-mountain plank a torsion box to withstand hardcore abuse without getting chatty, and Mod Monic technology that distributes mass in a way that gifts you the smoothest ride since Marvin Gaye's “Let's Get It On.”

Bottom Line: Tougher than a '73 Harley, more versatile than a double-jointed Vegas hooker.

Write your question here...I'm a 62 yr old 190lb intermediate skier enjoying the bkues and just starting on the Silverstar blacks. I ski for about 30 days each year in BC. My head IM 70's are a bit dated and don't handle thr crud well. I want to ski in control on the groomers and the light pow and glades/bumps 80/20. I am looking at new skis for 2010, say K2 Recons or Sidewinders or mayby Volkl AC30s or Nordica Hot Rod Nitrous. Any suggestions appreciated.

Hey John. That's an interesting mix of skis you are thinking about. All four would do pretty well with what you are looking for, but narrowing down from there would depend on how you ski. Since you are coming off the HEAD IM 70, the most comparable ski to that would be the Volkl, followed by the Nordica. The K2s are pretty forgiving, but you may have more trouble in the crud with them. I would suggest the Volkl AC30 because you'll get more stability in all conditions and you'll be able to drive that ski pretty well at the right length. Hope this helps.

I'm 60 yrs old, in pretty good shape, I ski almost everydat at Gore Mtn. and sometimes at Whiteface Mtn in Lake Placid. I just bought a pair of K2 Apache sidewinder w/ marker MX 12.0 bindings. They feel comfortable for me. My question is are they considered a well manufactured and quality ski. I'd also like to know where they are produced. any information will be appreciated. thank you

I just bought a pair and it says Made in China like everything else. However the quality looks good. I will not know how they perform till we get some snow in Minnesota.

K2 has really good quality control on its skis, so they are all really good quality. Hard to find a dud. It is hard to tell, but the skis could have been made at either the Vashon Island factory, or a factory K2 owns in China. You won't be able to tell the difference anyway.
