Julbo Nomad Sunglasses - Alti Spectron 4 Lens

Julbo Nomad Sunglasses' Alti Spectron X4 Lenses reduce visible light transmission to only 5% so you don't go snow-blind on the summit ridge of some remote peak. Removable plastic shields prevent light from sneaking in through the sides, and wraparound temples keep the Nomad Sunglasses from slipping off and taking an unexpected ride all the way to the glacier. Take off the side shields, and these Julbo sunglasses take on a sporty look and low-profile shape that works for a day on the trail or at the crag.

Bottom Line: Whether you're heading to the world's highest mountains or your favorite local peaks, protect your eyes with the Julbo Nomad Sunglasses.

Superb function, kinda durable, worth the money

For less than 100 bucks, there isn't a better pair of mountaineering specs out there. Like other gear, fit is key, so if the Nomads fit your face like they do mine(kinda narrow) they cut out both the suns rays and reflections off snow and ice. The Nomads are light and durable, which is important for carrying in your pack on goggle days. I find that I need to replace mine at least once a year, but perhaps my usage is above average. After many cleanings, the reflective coating on the lens begins to rub off. The detachable side shields sound cool, but I never detach them. I have found these glasses to be between average and above-average for ventilation and fogging.

Nomads on the summit of K2.

Warmer days and summits without goggles, Nomads are great for high altitude.

VERY small

Certainly a good price, however too small for my average-sized noggin. Had to return.

Good fit for a smaller face

By:

I'm not a big gal so finding any sort of wraparound sunglasses that fit is akin to finding needle in a haystack. These glasses surprised me in that the design of the arms is meant to fit a variety of faces (although I'd guess that larger faces/heads may not find as good a fit). The arms don't angle downward to anchor onto your ears, instead they are curved to fit your head. You'd think that they would have a tendency to slip, but there is a textured material that holds snugly against your hair (or hat). The lenses are a bit dark, so have a backup plan if you're hiking/climbing in overcast conditions. And for the style conscious, the glasses come with two colors of side shields.
