Jetboil PCS Bundled w/ Coffee Press - 2007

Why settle for instant coffee when you can sip your favorite brew on your next excursion? The featherweight French press brings civilization with you, even to the most uncivilized locations. It comes with a Jetboil stove that is a self-contained cooking system a little larger than a Nalgene bottle. This super-efficient canister stove is attached to a mug to form a single, connected system. The Jetboil can boil a cup full of water in 30 seconds. Now you can stay in bed until the last minute and still have time to make fresh coffee. The base and canister nest inside of the mug for transport, and it has an insulating sleeve to protect your hand and hold heat inside. A handgrip strap gives you something to hold onto so the hot stuff goes into your mouth, not your lap. Fuel canister not included.

Bottom Line: From snow to fresh coffee in a minute.

Not for flyers, Groups

By:
November 13, 2008

I know a lot of friends of mine like 'em but I'm not a fan. Here's why:

1) Climbing Mt. Rainer with the winter mix. Winter mix got too cold to light. (Thankfully I had my MSR Whisper Lite to cook / make water with.)

2) Can't fly with the canisters. So if you're flying some place, you're going to have to cross your fingers and hope you can find a store that sells it. That's fine if you travel to western populated locations, but eastern Europe or Central Asia. Good luck, I'll take the stoves that can take unleaded fuel or karosene.

3) Another on flying: Say you do buy some. Odds are you probably won't use it all. Still can't fly with it home, so you're stuck donating it to someone. (Which I'm sure they will appreciate.) At least with the unleaded fuel options you can pour the $0.30 of gas into a car.

4) Care about your carbon footprint? Think about everyone of those cans that gets thrown away.

And generally: I found my MSR WhisperLite to be able to boil 2 cups in a pot just as fast as the Jet Boil can in it's specialized mug. (And another plus to general stoves: you can cook 4 or more mugs at once, so you're not eating in shifts if you only brought one stove for a group.)

Overall, if you're a solo hiker and this is the ONLY thing you have, it's not bad. It is REAALLY easy to use. But for people in groups or air travelers, I think there are better options out there.

works like a charm. people are always jealous of my jetboil. only issue is the lack of ease in buying the right fuel.

The coffee kit is a snap on top to turn the jet boil mug into a french press coffee press. You bring the preground coffee, drop it in the hot water, snap on the press, let the coffee sit for a few. Then give the plunger a push all the way down and the grounds are strained to the bottom of the cup giving you fresh, groundfree coffee, just like a regular french press. Now sip away!

JetBoil Perfection

By:
February 19, 2007

As an engineer, I like crunching numbers. Since I got my JetBoil, I've been boiling different amounts of water and recording how many grams of fuel is required at different temperatures ambient/water/amounts/etc.

In my experiments I've noticed that there is little, very little extra heat. There is no wasted heat to warm your hands. Now that's efficient!

French Press works like a charm.

This is the smallest and most efficient stove I've ever seen.

This is a great stove. I just took it for an 85 mi walk on the A.T. in N.C. cooked breakfast and dinner for 6 days and didn't even use one fuel canister. However I do have a gripe. I had to send my first one back because the auto ignigther did not work. The replacement works better than the first but its not dependable. If you buy this stove better pack a lighter

Moving at the speed of Heat

During the 2006 Eco Primal Quest Expedition Race, my teammates and I found this stove to be indispensable at transition areas. The ease of set-up of this self-contained compact unit was key for sleep-deprived racers with diminished brain capacity. And with its efficient heat transfer design, the water was generally boiling before we could get our dehydrated meals set up.

Awesome! This is one of the best products made in years. Fast, pretty light, and easy to light and use. We now have three and will use them for general camping and picnics as well!

There isn't a "green bottle" adapter for the Jetboil stove. The older models use solely Jetboil canisters. The newer Jetboil stoves can use other Lindal valve canisters from other manufacturers.

As far as the jet boil goes, I wont go camping without one. Lightning fast, light weight, and compact. Great!! The coffee press is neat, and works well with very coarse ground coffee. The only problem I have is its a little tricky to get everything contained inside with all the press attachments. This is a MUST HAVE!!

Pretty nice

November 6, 2006

I am not a coffee drinker, but I used this coffee press to help get everyone up and going and rock climbing over the weekend. This works just like a French press, just do not ground the beans super fine, just how you normally would for a French press. If you grind them small it is kind of chunky coffee. It boiled so fast and everyone ranted and raved about this jet boil system, and HEY...it got all the hungover people on the rock faster! so I give this 2 thumbs up!

it doesnt come with a cup. when you see mug it means the included mug. it does have a measuring cup on the bottom though that comes in handy. the cooking mug is a little over a liter. The mug/cup is 32oz/1 liter.

Next time we'll get it perfect

By:
July 9, 2008

I recently ordered the Jetboil PCS bundled with coffee press, too. Mine also arrived without the bundled coffee press. Again customer service was excellent and the whole RMA, reship and return process took place after just a single short email and the only further effort I had to expend was a trip to the post office to hand over the return.

I will very likely purchase further items from this site. I figure if they work this hard to clear up a minor mess up that they would probably really help you out if it was truly a big problem.

Jet Boil

By:
July 9, 2008

The Jetboil I ordered with the coffee press came well...without the press, but a new one was quickly shipped out that did include it.The second time I used the self lighter it quit so I am using another method to light the Jetboil. I had heard that this was a flaw so I'm not too concerned about it.The coffee press works great if you use it in reverse which I had also heard about. So pretty happy with the unit so far and also purchased the stand and pot support for using it with other cooking gear. It all fits together really well into one compact unit.
