Upgrade your Jetboil stove with the FluxRing-equipped 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot when you head into the backcountry with a couple friends. This neoprene-insulated cooking pot fits right onto your existing system to give you the same amazing efficiency that you're used to with Jetboil. Basically, it cooks food for two instead of boiling water for one. Both the lid and the bottom protector double as plates and can be left at home to shave weight off this 12-ounce package. *Must be used with the Jetboil Pot Support and Stability Kit for stoves without these features.
Bottom Line: Cook for two with the Jetboil 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot.
I have cooked everything in this. fish, burritos, popcorn, frozen pizza, many a freeze dried meal, and countless other meals all with success. Very light and the surface is easy to clean and pretty non-stick even for eggs. I use it with the Jetboil PCS and the support/stability kit. I use it as both a pot for liquid and prefer it over the fry pan for most frying because of the taller sides.
I've read the JetBoil is good for boiling water and that's about it. Not true. I was able to slowly render bacon and cook delicious scrambled eggs with cheese in the GCS pot. I was very impressed with the wider pot and don't think the new frying pan is needed for simple camping cooking. I highly recommend the GCS for couscous, rice, or any dish that requires steaming. Camping food doesn't have to be unhealthy, and the GCS helps in that department.
I am wondering if anyone has used this pot over a regular fire and if it worked as well as a standard pot for that use. I have a PCS system, but I am looking for variability. I don't want to buy this if it can't be used over a fire. Is the flux ring on the bottom durable enough to use over regular flame?
Yes it can , but you will definately need to take the neoprene cozy off of the pot ( it will melt if flames get to it) the flux ring is durable enough for sure.
After many years of using a Peak1 stove and an old Mess Kit, I recently replaced EVERYTHING with Jetboil products. I purchased the PCS, the Gourmet Set (to get the fry pan and stabilizers), and the 1.5L pot. Since i fish on my trips, the frypan was a must although I have cooked fish in the 1.5L pot too. This is without a doubt, the single best gear purchase I have made recently!
Good size pot for a solo UL trip or a two person excursion. No need for any other pots/pans- the top and bottom covers can be used as plates, frisbees and more. Relatively lightweight and the fluxring is killer- can be used with any stove or over an open fire!
This pot works with all my camp stoves. The main drawback is for people who have bad memories... It is very easy to melt the bottom cover. Don't ask me how I know.
I returned my first jetboil pot because the lid shrank so much that I couldn't get it on again. My second pot is similar, but I can get the lid on if I use enough brute force. This pot is fine, but it has not wowed me and seems way more expensive than it should be. Also, if you camp with newbies, make sure you point out the black plastic protector cover on the bottom BEFORE they put the pot on the flame. Oopsie. Thankfully the stove continued to work even with noxious, oozing black plastic dripping in it.
This cook set worked great on my camping trip. When ended up cooking up some pasta and it was much easier then having a pot over the fire. canister of gas screwed in very easily and we turned the valve and pressed the ignition button and it was going strong. We only had it on a low setting to conserve fuel and it boiled 1 quart of water in about 3 minutes. Pot fit on very well, didn't have to worry about it falling off and the coating was great and cleaned off very easily when we were done. Won't go camping without one of these ever again.
Although this product works very well; it will more than likely be left behind on most of my trips. Don't get me wrong, it is a great stove but fairly large and somewhat impractical for any extended backpacking trip. For a weekend trip or if you happen to find yourself with extra space in your pack it is nice to have but all its functions can be accomplished at a smaller level with the 1L Companion Cup which is a MUST have
Started with the personal cooking system which is the cup and stove. Loved it, cooked top ramen, soup and mac and cheese in it for work. Recently got the pot to go on a three day hike (yet to come) and already have used the pot for mac and cheese, soup and steak and eggs. LOVE THIS THING. Once you get used to adjusting the heat it cooks like a regular pot but boils water unbelievably fast. Faster than my teapot at home, I tested them head to head. I highly recommend this as I am a service and repair plumber and am always on the road. Now I can carry more than just sandwiches.
I have used my jet boil to cook so many things! I have cooked bacon, eggs, hash browns, soup, pasta, boil water, popped popcorn, rice and other things. You need to be careful because it heats up so fast you can burn things on the bottom.
With 2 of these we have cooked for 15 people. Everyone got soup and then before they even finished that bowl the next bowl was pipping hot and ready for 2nds!
We had a jet boil cook off at work and I cooked a cream cheese fancy italian pasta dish in this and it was phenomenal! I won 3rd place with it! So you can cook more than camp food in this.
I love the size and function of this pot. The cover can rest on top to help boil water faster and its big enough to cook a big pasta dinner in. Can your food still burn in the middle of the pot? Yes, but the flux ring does help to spread the heat around.
Another super efficient item from JetBoil. Gets the most out of every last drop of heat produced. Make sure you watch your heat settings I burned stuff a lot while I was beginning to use this (due to the efficiency).
I admit it, I don't have one of these. But it's going HIGH on my wish list after seeing it in action from some friends. The cooking possibilities seem completely endless from chili to fish and rice to all kinds of pasta. I can't believe i didn't get one with my original Jet Boil.
