Integral Designs Siltarp2 - 2006
The Integral Designs Siltarp2 is designed for those wanting an ultra-lightweight shelter. The Siltarp2 can be used as a tent awning, wind/rain shelter, or covered gear storage. At 14oz, the Siltarp2 is light enough to take on all trips. This minimalist tarp is an 8x10 ft rectangular made from waterproof nylon. The 30 denier parachute rip-stop nylon is impregnated with silicone for weather resistance. It is incredibly strong and resilient. The Siltarp2 has a seam down the center of the 8ft length, which provides extra strength but does require manual sealing with Silnet sealant (included). There is 1 lightweight nylon tie loop sewn to a reinforced center patch and 16 nylon webbing loops at 2 ft intervals along the edges. These loops facilitate a variety of set ups on trekking poles, off trees or onto tents.
Bottom Line: The Siltarp2 is a minimalist shelter for light-and-fast expeditions.
