Icebreaker BodyFit260 Olympia Zip - Women's - 2006

Made from 100% New Zealand merino wool, the Icebreaker Women's BodyFit260 Olympia Zip Shirt provides comfortable, itch-free insulation in a wide variety of temperatures. Whether you wear the Olympia Zip top by itself on an early spring run or layer it under your ski clothes, this itch-free, two-tone zip top is far softer than conventional wool and won't stink like a synthetic top. Icebreaker made the Olympic Zip with thumb loops, an enhanced neck, and a three-way zipper to maximize heat efficiency.

Bottom Line: The Icebreaker Olympia Zip top keeps you as warm as a sheep without the barnyard smell.

Nice top, not great w/ a pack

By:
November 19, 2007

Eh. I like a lot, but wouldn't say I love it. I am a fan of the wool, the nice high collar & the zipper length (it stops short of the "3rd breast effect"). Fit is true to size w/ nice long arms & body (I hate the cold draft you get with some of the cropped styles) It doesn't have seems for shaping, so it takes your shape- whatever that may be. My biggest complaint is the poorly thought out shoulder seems-> trendy stripes= double your chafing pleasure, so it's not great with a pack unless you have some layers underneath to protect your shoulders. The wool certainly isn't as soft as a lot of your synthetics, but I also wouldn't call it itchy. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could b/c without a pack it functions very well.

sleeves too short

By:

I totally love the shirt except for the fact that the sleeves are too short. So if you have long arms you might want to go with one of the men's shirts.

Not as good as I hoped

By:
December 19, 2006

After reading all the great reviews, I bought two Olympia zip tops to try. While the material is low bulk, it’s not as warm as the 100 fleece. I normally wear a North Face 100 weight fleece during morning run at around 40-50F, with Icebreaker, I need to wear two layers of Olympia zip tops plus a base layer to get the same warmth. I also find them too scratchy to wear next to the skin, so I always have to wear a layer underneath.
Plus it smells like wet dog when wet and takes couple days to dry. I’m sticking with the synthetics.

BUY THIS TOP!

By:
April 4, 2006

I bought this to wear instead of my polypropylene long underwear. This top is wonderful. I live in the desert and I can wear it alone and I'm not too warm or cold. I also took it skiing with me and it was awesome. I can zip up the neck so I didn't need a neck gaiter. I like the thumb loop which allowed me to keep the sleeves under the gloves for added warmth. The top as I said before looks great on its own. The flax color is an olive green color, which I couldn't tell from my computer. All I can say about this top is BUY IT. Like I said, it kept me warm in below freezing temps and cool in 70F weather. You'll get your money's worth!

No Clammy feeling

By:
January 2, 2006

I'm a ski coach in Jackson. My days are full of intermittent activities followed by a bunch of hanging out in the cold watching other people ski. In the past, the many start... stop... start... stop parts of my day have left me feeling cold, damp and clammy. Not any more. I don't know how Icebreaker keeps you feeling warm, dry and comfortable all day, but it does.

Great for the Outdoor Workout

By:
December 12, 2005

It's -5F and the Olympia Zip top with a lightweight jacket is great for skate skiing. Better yet, I've worn it 4 days in a row without washing. It doesn't stink, keeps me warm during the workout and warm afterward while drying off. The zip-up neck takes the place of my turtle fur that usually winds up covered in frost and frozen to my chin. It has a nice length to the body, well covering the waist/abdomen/kidney zone from breezy air and snow flurries. The arms also are long enough for my long arms making the top still comfortable while utilizing the thumb holes, which help keep my wrist and hands warmer. And you can't beat the stylish racing stripes. Definite two thumbs up.

Ice Breaker Addict

By:
May 9, 2007

I learned about Ice Breaker in New Zealand and have been hooked ever since. It fits great, wears like a dream, packs well, is warm when it needs to be and cool when required. Unlike other fabrics, it doesn't smell and it washes well (although it does require a little care when washing... it's worth it). It's also non-chemical and a renewable resource.

sheep. I love 'em.

This shirt is so much better than a piece of long underwear. Partially because it's stylish enough that I can wear it to work or around town (after skiing, etc.) But mostly because it's just a great shirt. The thumb loops, the medium weight, un-stinky fabric, and the cut are just some of the reasons that this is a great shirt. The collar is higher than most, but that just helps on the super-cold days.

Layering, Zips, and Thumbloops

By: Backcountry.com Employee
December 7, 2006

So many things have already been said about this top. It really is ultra warm, and the high zip neck really helps to lock in the heat. If it ends up being a little too hot, though, you can simply unzip it and vent a little. This top also works for layering. I've used it as a mid layer over another Icebreaker skin 200 top for colder days. The thumbs loops are great for keeping my wrists warmer, too, since I have shorter cuffs on my gloves.

Warm and good looking

This top is such a great layering piece for cold weather. The neck zips up really high and that is a tad annoying, but very minor. It looks great and keeps me cozy.
