The Icebreaker Women's BodyFit260 Midweight Leggings offer incredible warmth and versatility because of their unique fabric—New Zealand merino wool. Merino keeps its heat-retaining properties when wet, fends off body odor, offers excellent warmth without bulk, and rivals synthetics in breathability. The slim-fit Icebreaker Leggings are cut so you can wear them alone for a cold-weather run, under your ski pants, or around your mountain cabin. Soft merino wool is not like your mom's itchy, old ski sweater—it lacks that trademark scratchiness and discomfort.
Bottom Line: Stay warm, dry, and comfortable in winter when you wear the Icebreaker BodyFit260 Leggings.
I wasn't sure which of the women's wool long underwear bottoms would be the best, so I ordered the Icebreaker, the Marmot, and the Smart Wool. The Icebreaker long underwear bottoms were 1) just a tiny bit scratchy 2) too tight in the elastic waist band, which was both unflattering and uncomfortable and 3) too high up on my torso, with the waist coming far over my belly button. The Marmot had seams in the legs that made them less attractive and less suitable for use as leggings that might show (versus long underwear that would never show), and they were also baggy in the butt and high waisted. In contrast, the Smartwool were much softer, with a different knit, and they have a nice, covered elastic waist band that hits just below my natural waist without binding or creating a muffin top (and I am thin, so the Icebreaker ones had to be really tight in the waist to make that happen).
These are perfect in any weather! I wear them under my shell pants downhill and backcountry skiing...they are a win-win in both situations. They feel smooth and dry quick, keeping me out playing on the hills all day long. Also, true to size/fitting.
Yes, I find that the leggings ride up quite a bit and that the waistband is way too tight. I'm 5'2" and I've found that I have to roll down the band (although since the elastic is very thin compared to other brands, they don't stay down well). Also since the waist was so tight I went up a size and now have baggier-than-desired leggings. I much prefer my Arcteryx merino leggings. I have written Icebreaker to give them suggestions.
I really like these, but have a couple things I wouldn't mind changing. It has a really high waist that cuts in a little, they are also very long. The material is great, not itchy at all, and kept me plenty warm as a single layer in 15 degrees, but had to add a 150 layer under for 10 degrees and below. I have a lot of Merino products and these long underwear are among my faves for winter weather.
You can put them together if the colors are the same, but the materials will be different. The leggings will be heavier in fabric than the crew. That's not in itself a bad thing, as some people prefer legs heavier and therefore sturdier.
I am disappointed with this one from Icebreaker. The material is okay and not as fine and tightly woven as their 260 shirts, the fit needs some improvement - the waist band is skinny and tight that it cut into the waist (very uncomfortable). If you order one size up to fit the waist, then the rest is long and baggy.
If you don't own any Merino wool-based clothing, you're missing out. This material is unlike any other I've worn - super comfortable, durable, and most important - it regulates your body temperature. Amazing. Well worth the price!
I have a 36 inseam and find that some (very few) womans leggings stretch to fit well, and others are calf pinching capris. I do not have skinny legs or narrow hips. So my question is: can these womans 260 icebreaker leggings fit a man with 36 (6'8"?) inseam who weights 240#? I do not want a fly front as I like to wear my leggings alone. (not as scary as it sounds!)ThanksI am not sure how to find your answer....I am
According to the "View Sizing Chart" link at the top of the page, the XL has a 31 inch inseam, and it looks like that is the longest/largest size available.
My wife is *skinny* and the narrow waist rides high up over the belly button and extremely TIGHT--leaving a good indentation in the skin.
This Icebreaker product is a dissappointing failure in fit (as others have mentioned here already).
My 5'5" wife sized up to the Medium. It's a little longer than necessary but doable and the waist fits better. We're still contemplating on whether just to go another route with the merino underwear....
i really like these leggings - they are so warm on those really cold days. they have great wicking too when you start to sweat from hikes in the backcountry. only downside is that they get kinda fuzzy/coarse after several washings.
I wanted to love these, I really did. I have worn Capilene base layers for years and have been pretty happy, but after hearing friends and sales reps talk up merino wool, I decided to give some a try. Performance-wise, I am very happy. I wore these out snowboarding on a warmish day and they wicked my sweat away and regulated my temperature. As far as style and fit go, they are not my favorite. I call them my "Granny pants" because the rise and legs are so long. I'm 5'6" and I can pull these puppies up almost to my chest. I guess it's ok, the high rise kept my hind end covered when bending and falling with low rise pants, but I would have preferred them to be slightly lower and with a wider waist band. The skinny little thing on them pinches in just a little. I'm keeping them, but I did order the SmartWool ones as well. We'll see if those work out any better.
I'm pretty much a wool freak now, and I wear wool long underwear on a daily basis for skiing. I think Icebreaker has some of the finest wool pieces, and you can trust that Icebreaker merino is sourced from buryly sheep roughing it in New Zealand mountains. I wear either these or SmartWool bottoms almost everyday. The BodyFit 260 is a nice, warm midweight option. They breathe well, and don't stink! When it's really cold, I still prefer my Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch tights, as they are thicker and a bit warmer. If you're looking for a midweight wool bottom, I highly recommend these (or the legless version for use with ski or snowboard boots).
