The Icebreaker Men's 2-Tone Long-Sleeve BodyFit260 Crew offers some much-needed style in base layer fashion, not to mention it's made of 100% Merino, the best natural fiber for temperature regulation in the world. Merino has some incredible advantages over synthetic fabrics: it keeps its heat-retaining properties when wet, prevents body odor build-up better than any chemical treatment, offers expedition-weight warmth at half the bulk, and rivals many synthetics in breathability. Use the Icebreaker Crew as a base layer when skiing or as a shirt for cool fall and spring activities. Make no mistake, merino is not the wool of yesterday—though it has wool's incredible heat-retaining qualities and breathability, it lacks the scratchiness and discomfort you remember from years ago.
Bottom Line: Merino knows what will make you comfortable: the Icebreaker 2-Tone Long-Sleeve Crew.
This stuff is awesome! I wear this year round, and add another layer over top in the winter. Super comfy and the no stink factor on multi-day trips is a huge plus.
This is my new favorite long-sleeve top. Warm, breathable, doesn't hold odor, dries quickly - all as advertised. Yeah, it's expensive, but it is Merino wool. Just think of it as an investment in the most versatile (and incognito) sweater you'll own.
I bought my first BodyFit260 about a year ago and it quickly became the most worn shirt in my closet. I have since bought other Icebreaker clothing and have yet to be disappointed. The rave about wool is on the mark; it keeps its shape and doesn't stink even with days of consecutive wear.
Be sure to follow the care instructions... These shirts will shrink and piss you off, because they are the best, luckily i bought more than one. Merino wool is great and 260 weight is ideal for mid layer in cold and can function on its own in better weather. Icebreaker is my favorite wool clothing company now. The only complaint would be, I wish they would have included the thumb holes on this shirt.
Great piece of clothing for an underlayer. i have Eczema and this is the only wool that I've found so far that doesn't make my skin light up. Great price for icebreaker but you have to follow the washing instructions perfectly because my medium is now a size for a small child.
I'm totally addicted to Icebreaker, and buy pretty much everything that shows up on SAC. This is oen of my favorites. Fit is perfect and extremely comfortable. Not sure why they didn't put thumb loops on this one - all the other 260 wieght shirts have them. But no biggy. I am 6', 180, athletic build and the large is perfect. Buy it. It will be your favorite too.
Yes made from Bodyfit 260 fabric. The 260 is made from 100% pure Merino wool and features 30% more of that wool than the 200 line, making the Bodyfit 260 more warm.
I call these magic shirts. With one on, I am comfortable from below zero up to 50 degrees. I wore my first one every day from November until April, rarely washing it, and it still didn't smell at all, while cutting firewood and sweating all of the time. It lasted five years like that, and I still use it, although it has holes in it now. I just got back from a European trip, where I wore the shirt and the equivalent long johns. After 3 weeks, wearing the same set day and night, I got to take a shower. I didn't have any clean ones to get into, and it was too cold to go without. I took one whiff of them and declared them clean enough to wear. Magic by any definition.
As the second piece of Icebreaker clothing I have purchased, the BodyFit260 crew has pleased me as much or more than my first item, BodyFit200, which I really loved for the fit and warmth.
I think that Icebreaker really does live up to all of the hype about odor resistance and superior warmth. I often where my Icebreaker gear for days of snowboarding without washing it, and I have never been accused of smelling. Similarly, the warmth of the merino wool is great.
My favorite part about the Icebreaker BodyFit260 is the fit and style. If you have an athletic body--i.e., larger shoulders and chest with a smaller waist--the BodyFit260 will fit you well and look great.
If you purchase an IceBreaker product and you make sure you get the right size, I think you will really enjoy your purchase. Also, this site is an amazing retailer in that they have great customer service and a wonderful return policy if you are unsatisfied in anyway.
and how is the weight,is this like the midweight from smartwool? or like the softwool from north face, thanks guys! i'm trying to decide on them 3 brands
In my opinion this would be a step up from Smartwool and definitely from TNF (again, my opinion). And yes, this is a midweight. It's warm for layering and for cold/cold weather activities. If it's a little warmer go down, if it's colder or you're less active, go up to the 300's and 400's.
This is turning into one of my favorite long-sleeved shirts. I wear it around town all the time, but because it is merino, it is great at regulating temperature and moisture without retaining odors. This shirt is not as form fitting as my Icebreaker Oasis shirts but still has the extra length, which I love. I still ended up sizing up one size - I'm 6'2, 190 lbs and a size XL fits perfectly.
I bought this to replace the fake Underarmor stuff I got from a local ski shop. I wanted something warmer and less stinky. This fit the bill. Kept me fairly warm and smelled just fine after skiing for hours. I thought it would insulate a little better, but overall, I was pretty satisfied.
At ~6ft and only ~145 lbs., I am cold almost all the time. Skiing the Rockies this season has averaged about 25 degrees F (brrrr). The hi-tech fabrics were not keeping me warm and I had to wear too many layers (about 4-5). Although I am mildly allergic to wool, I tried IceBreaker's BodyFit 260. I am very glad I did. Not only did it keep me warm (just this and my jacket was sufficient) but I didn't stink after a full day of skiing. My allergy wasn't bothered at all and I was amazed that the wool was not scratchy at all. I love this product and highly recommend it!
Use this top with the 260 bottom's and makes a great layer. Went snowshoeing in 10-20degF weather with a brisk wind and all I was more than warm with these and a wind shell on. It's soft and even after a long day of working was still fresh. Worth the price, fit is true. Remember, you can wash it but don't dry it! It is wool after all...
This top fits somewhere between a skintight baselayer and a tight midlayer shirt. You could wear this around town probably as a shirt, especially if you sized up. If you are looking for a body hugging layer, this is not it. In fact, my only criticism is that the cuffs are fairly loose, looser than a long sleeved t-shirt. This is fine if you think of it as a midlayer I guess, as long as the sleeves aren't too long for you, otherwise you'd have to roll them up. Those with thick wrists or long arms may not have this problem. Anyone know how icebreak intended this shirt to be used?
this question is for anyone who can help me find the right size. I'm about 6ft and weigh about 155 (so gazoller, if you see this, im looking at you) and wondering what is the right size for me in both the bodyfit 200 and 260? cheers!
Hi there, both M and L are pretty much same body and sleeve lenght, major diff is in chest. If you wear other gear in L in chest, stick to L in Icebreaker. Same for M sizes.---------------I'll include that if you go with any of the layers that refer to being "Slim Fit" you can size up to get extra length in the sleeves and torso without creating any loose material width wise. I normally wear a L in icebreaker (6'1" 190) and have the Oasis Crew 200 in an XL and it is just fine and gives plenty of sleeve and torso.
Conforms more closely to the body than Patagonia Wool-2 but is slightly softer and heavier. It is perfect for runs in temps between 30-40 with a sheer Brooks windbreaker. I didn't think anyone could replace Patagonia, but I love this product and definitely recommend it to others for aerobic activity in cold weather.
I have several icebreaker shirts (t-shirts, sweaters, zip necks, etc.), but this was the first long sleeve tee I bought and I couldn't be happier. I like it so much I had to buy another and now they are nearly all I wear around the house and out about doing stuff. So comfortable. Perfect weight for the winter months. Right on for running in cool weather. Sleeve length is great (I wear a 16 35 dress shirt, so I need long arms and the XL is perfect). Highly recommend it if you can afford it.
This is very warm and comfortable. As other reviewers said, it doesn't stink after consecutive days of wear.
But mine developed a hole in the sleeve after only a month. If you don't have a front loading washing machine, I would wash this on the delicate cycle, making sure nothing else in the machine has zippers or something on which the shirt can snag.
Backcountry.com took care of me with their customer service and return policy. Thanks!
I had the same problem as rattler, i didnt read the care intructions well and now im left with a once incrediable long sleeve to one that doesnt fit. Its a great mid layer and i know ice breaker can be pretty costly but its definitely worth it. I would suggest this sweater to anyone.
I've had this shirt for a year and just ordered another one I like it so much. It's really cumfy, the wool is not itchy at all, it's real soft. The shirt is also really warm. Wool is definitely worth the price!
I got this shit to wear over the BodyFit 200 short sleeve crew which worked perfectly. The 200 crew is much more form fitting while BodyFit 260 as others have noted has a looser fit. This combination worked great. I then layered a Patagonia R2 fleece and my Artercyx shell and life was good!
