Icebreaker BodyFit260 Altitude Zip Top - Long-Sleeve - Women's - 2007
The Icebreaker Women's BodyFit260 Altitude Zip features a 10-inch front zipper and a collar, so you can batten down the hatches in cold weather and open wide when you warm up. Unzip the 4.5-inch collar as you boot up for freshies, and zip back up while you wait for your buddies. This slim-fitting top's merino wool fabric insulates you and pulls sweat away from your skin so you stay dry. Icebreaker made this top with raglan sleeves and added underarm gussets so no seams get in the way of pack straps and cause chafing, and nothing constrains your movement. A drop tail and thumb loops ensure the Altitude Zip stays tucked in to your pant and glove shells.
Bottom Line: Ski or ride the backcountry in your Icebreaker BodyFit260 Altitude Zip long johns.
First, I am a long time and previously satisfied customer with Icebreaker products. My wife and I own dozens of their products including Atlas undershirts, Mondo zip tops, an Altitude mens crew, multiple Flower Pods Cross Camis, SweetHeart tops, leggings, and countless running, hiking and skiing socks. This is only the second Icebreaker item that we have had any issue with (the first was one of the SweetHeart tops that arrived with a hole and was easily exchanged).
I bought this shirt for my mother in fall 2008 for when she visits Denver. She lives in Phoenix. It has been worn less then five times and never needed washed. When she came to Denver this year, she pulled the shirt out and it had dozens of tiny holes in it. I contacted Icebreaker about a replacement and their response was... disappointing. "Normal fiber variation will occasionally lead to spontaneous holing in the fabric." So they'll replace it, right? "We do normally offer a one year warranty replacement on garments that are off design specific measurements, or has premature holing, tearing or pilling. This particular item is no longer made in this color and was discontinued over a year ago. Unfortunately, we are only able to replace with the same garment and cannot replace with an item that is priced at retail value." I sent a response and they validated that because the color I bought is no longer available, they won't replace it with a current color. Unacceptable for a top that costs this much.
I really do love Icebreaker but this isn't my favorite. There multiple seams in the arm bothered me. Not only are there seams where the color changes, but also on the outside of the upper arm. I actually ended up returning it despite the great price.
This top is ridiculously soft and warm. I wear a Medium in just about everything I own but I'm only an A cup. I ordered a small and the fit was fine -- snug and body hugging, good for a base layer -- and did I mention ridiculously warm? However, what's up with the arm seams? There are several unnecessary (IMHO) seams along the arms. The seams are chunky underneath the shirt and rubbed against my skin. I actually had to return this shirt because of the arm seams. Will be looking for another Icebreaker Body Fit 260 item instead.
I took a chance on this top based on the rave reviews it received and must agree that it is the best! I used it as a base layer for four days of X-country and downhill skiing in single digit temps and not once did I feel sweaty or cold. Particularly when X-country skiing, when I shed my jacket, I felt perfectly comfortable w just this sweater. It is soft, it launders nicely (did not use the dryer, though) and it is stylish.
Keeps up to the icebreaker name(odor -free , non-itching etc) but has a style to it. Got the medium as its form fitting and I wear the crewe shirt underneath when skiing. Got a lot of complements on the black colour( got the brown also).
I like this shirt, it's warm and soft, but it doesn't fit as well as some other merino tops I have (like Smartwool). I find the seams kind of bulky and poke out a bit, especially near your collarbones, so it looks a little odd. Also the neck is really long so I feel like I'm wearing a scarf or neck tube when I have it zipped up all the way. Thumb loops are a great idea, love those. Overall it's a good shirt but it doesn't look as flattering as other designs.
I spend a lot of time outdoors in the winter, and I bought this top last year as I converted to wool from polyester. I will never go back! I wear it with a wool tee underneath and that's all I need under my hard or soft shell for any winter activities. It has a warmth and sweat wicking quality that cannot be matched by any polyester/fleece product! You WILL NEVER FEEL WET AND COLD - AND you will look cool, AND you will never stink! What more can a girl in the wild ask for? These tops fit great, are made very well, and are totally worth the money.
Love it. Fits great. Sleeves long enough!!!! The BodyFit sizes aren't consistent in the woman sizes. I wear a size 12 and some XL's fit and some are too small. A few stlyes have sleeves long enough and the rest have sleeves too short. I like to try a stlye on locally to make sure it fits before I order it on line. My men's sizes seem to be more consistent. I wish they all fit because I LOVE ICEBREAKER!!. Love Backcountry.com.
This is an awesome top, keeps me warm and comfy. I'm totally converting from polypro to wool. I'm 5'5" 120 lbs A cup, I have some of the icebreaker T's and size SM was perfect. However, these tops I needed to exchange for a Med. If you don't mind skin tight, see-lines-of-your-bra go small but I like to have the option of wearing a tank or something underneath and it was too snug for that. Maybe if you order a tad large you won't have seam issues either. I didn't notice the seams. :-)
I purchased the Icebreaker BodyFit260 Altitude Zip Top in a size Small & think that an XS would fit me better even though I've a 34" chest. I love the long arms & really love the thumb loops! These shirts are super soft, not itchy, and so comfortable. Highly recommended.
everything about this top is amazing: high neck-no scarf needed, 1/2 zip-in case you get hot, long sleeves-for the tall ladies (im 5'10), and fitted! (I bought the xl-and I weigh 175 Lbs) couldn't leave home without it.
Wore this over a short sleeve Icebreaker wool top while in cool weather (low 60s) and it kept me the perfect temp. Long enough in the tail for cycling too!
