Icebreaker BodyFit260 Altitude Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

The Icebreaker Men's Altitude Crewe Long Underwear Top will take you higher. Layer this base layer under a fleece for backcountry ski trips. Its 260g/m2 BodyFit merino wool breathes well to regulate your temp on the way up, then insulates to keep you warm when you get to the top. Raglan sleeves and underarm gussets provide comfort and freedom of movement. When you're done skiing, stop by the pub on the way home. The Altitude's styling and slim fit makes it a great casual piece, and the anti-odor properties of the wool make sure you're stink free.

Bottom Line: When it comes to performance and comfort, the Altitude Crewe reaches the peak.

It's alright, but...

By:

This wasn't quite what I was hoping for from IceBreaker. First a good point: I really like the thumb harnesses - they help to seal up the wrist area in cold weather. I wish that they were a standard (or at least optional) feature on other long-sleeve IceBreakers.

Two things that I didn't like so much: 1) the neck is wider (more open) than my other IceBreakers and 2) the seams around the elbows (which are only there for aesthetic purposes - to attach the colored fabric) are irritating on the inside of the arm.

I prefer the bodyfit 260 midweight hands down.

fits the bill

Was looking for a wool midweight and picked this up on SAC. Very happy with it and I dig the thumb holes. Looking at the retail price I am surprised it is made in China. Probably the most stylin piece of hikin gear I own.

Submitted for your entertainment. NOTHING says cool like zip offs over silkweights. Good thing I am wearing this stylin top...
Also pic'd: Smartwool Training Beanie, Ex Officio Amphi pants, Thermarest Z-lite pad (on pack).

I've never met and IB product I didn't like... Great fit, no funk-stench, and durable. Itch free...

Nice, but a few complaints

By:
September 8, 2008

EXACTLY the same complaints as below - the neck is just a bit too wide, and the seams on the sleeves are definitely noticeable. I still give it four stars, because otherwise its really comfortable and I think the fit is nice. Its hard to not like a merino piece! I wouldn't pay full price for this, but its worth the SAC price.

top shelf base layer

By:
January 9, 2008

i now own 4 pieces of icebreaker base layer, and countless other brands. These are the best—they're comfortable, wear well, wash easily. they don't retain odor and they're very nice looking garments. Yes, they're expensive. I think you get more than enough value out of them.

almost perfect

High quality merino wool material, that does as advertised. Keeps you warm and does not smell bad.

but the cut and seam placement through the arms and the wide neck opening, both design options, bring the rating down a star. the piece would be better with straight seams and a typical head opening.

very nice, confortable and fits well. the material did make my inside elbows itch, but i wore a undershirt and that took care of that. the thumb holes are good, i have had some that cut of circulation, but no problems

Icebreaker BodyFit260 - fits perfectly

By: Backcountry.com Employee
September 16, 2008

My first Icebreaker product and I really like it.
No complaints about the fit, neck size or seams.
I have yet to try it on the slopes as a base layer, but as its merino wool, I don't think I'll have any problems.
