Icebreaker Beast 150 Brief - Men's

Icebreaker's Beast Brief helps you walk the line between keeping your beast caged and under control or letting your beast roam wild. The Beast Brief's low rise and athletic cut helps you make the most of your assets. And besides being very sexy, the merino wool is environmentally sound. Icebreaker goodies don’t hold moisture or odor, so none of that rotten crotch stench.

Bottom Line: Beast is as beast does. Be kind to your beast.

Good but runs a little small

By:
January 19, 2009

Maybe it's just that I'm not used to the cut of these but I'm a 32-33" waist and I ordered a Medium and Large. Returned the Mediums before wearing them and kept the Large. After just a little bit of shrinkage from the washing they are now a bit small too but will have to keep since I've worn them. Love Icebreaker items but may have to try the boxer briefs if I want to go wool. I have their long underwear and they fit just right.

Merino = King

By:

These are great. I wear them under my bike shorts when I go for long rides, when I go for runs, when I go to the gym, pretty much anything active, as well as casual wear occasionally. I usually wash them after a single wear, but like most merino products these do not pickup odor very easily! You could easily wear these for 3-4 days or longer. This could be really handy for travel. I love them and highly recommend. Not cheap, but my merino stuff holds up much better than cotton so in the long run you pay for what you get. I'm 6'3 230 and about a 36'' waist and L fits me just fine. I like an athletic (i.e. snug) fit because I am usually using these for some sort of physical activity.

Best Underthings Around

By:
December 8, 2009

I agree with Loren's review--the Beasts are the best underthings I've owned. In fact, I threw out all my other underthings and have worn these exclusively for about two years. I have a 32" waist and the medium works fine, even with the shrinkage--which I did not find too cumbersome.

These underthings are a bit of an indulgence but worth every penny!

You dont know briefs, until the icebreaker

By:
December 23, 2009

Was on the edge about whether to make the investment or not, but def worth the money. I got them on sale and am waiting to buy more once they drop down again. Sizing runs pretty true, and provide a snug fit all over. Nice fabric and quality, if you get the white ones you do have to worry about seperating your colors and whites! (mine are now tie dye)

If you are thinking about them, just buy them...

By:
May 19, 2009

Simply put. I bought several of these and I stopped using other gear. On more relaxed days I use Ibex's boxers. Between the Icebreaker and the Ibex, nothing else is worth keeping anymore... The Icebreaker is phenomenal to travel with.
Check out the Icebreaker site to learn about the fit. I own gear from several of their lines over the last four years, it's consistent and well made. It fits like designer clothing - cut for people with a healthy BMI.

yes. it runs small.

Usually I wear Icebreaker small size clothes.
Not for this one. I had to exchange a small one for a medium.

What Stink?

By:
June 8, 2009

I bought these for a trip to Mongolia recently and wore a pair for over a week. They were still perfectly fine after the 7 days as the first. These are also better made than the exofficio as they have more room in the front for the package. Size seems true to me.

By:
November 21, 2008

So if you ever get tired of the Funky Junk smell that gets in the way of a post climb amorous adventure. The BEAST is the answer! Support, Style and....wait for it....magical anti-funk fighting abilities. Pricy but worth it.

I like the Merino stuff

By: Backcountry.com Employee
November 27, 2009

I bought this because I am going to do some multi-day hiking and only want to carry a few pieces of underwear because of the the weight. These are very comfortable and the fabric is very sturdy and comfortable. I would recommend buying a size larger because it will shrink a bit. You probably already know that Merino doesn't start to get all funky like the synthetic fabrics and still insulates when wet. It does not dry as fast as synthetics but after 5 days hiking the smell factor get pretty important.
