Icebreaker Skin200 Legless Pant - Men's - 2006

When you put on your midweight bottoms for a day of skiing or hiking, you tend to end up with a lot of material bunched up at the top of your boots. Not only is this extra material annoying to move around, but it also makes you sweat more. The Icebreaker Men's Skin200 Legless Pant is a ¾-length Merino wool pant that's designed specifically for layering with winter boots. Because it only runs to your boottops, you won't have any bunched material to decrease the pant's performance. The Merino wool also holds less odor than synthetic materials, making it an excellent choice for extended backcountry and mountaineering trips. After a week at base camp, these pants will still smell like they did on day one.

Bottom Line: Shorter and better smelling than your long, stinky synthetic pants.

Typically Great Stuff From Icebreaker

By:
June 15, 2007

I'm a huge fan of the Icebreaker merino wool underwear--I wear it snowboarding and snowshoeing in the coldest, wettest conditions and it stays warm, dries quickly, and feels great next to my skin. These "legless" pants are basically knickers, which keeps the bottom of the leg out of my snowboard boots (which can be fairly painful if the underwear or socks bunch up near the top of the boot). A good value.

Just Great

By:

I bought one back in the late fall to use for skiing. I just started to look at merino wool for base layers and Icebreaker makes some great products. I stayed warm without overheating. The pants didn't smell unlike some synthetics I have. And there was no itching either. Since my first trip I have bought a few more sets.

toasty and silky, too. Well worth the $

This is my second pair of icebreakers but the legless ones arrived too late for my last big trip. While i can't yet evaluate the shorter version, i can tell you that i LOVE wearing the other pair i have. They keep me warmer than my synthetic base layer, don't smell, are very comfortable espec around the waist. Basically i don't feel like I'm wearing an extra layer. Some static buildup but much less than synthetic. They wash well and hang dry about as fast, too.

Summary: super warm, super plush. spend the money!

I love them! They are just the right length and give just the right amount of warmth on the 30-40 degree ski days. I definitely recommend them!!

Material great, I would prefer a full length leg

By:

Don't get me wrong, this is another great item of clothing from IceBreaker. My personal preference, after wearing this for a few weeks, is a full-length leg that I can more easily tuck into socks so they don't pull up from sitting or pulling on pants over them.

Simple and cool

By:
January 2, 2006

How cool are these long johns? So simple yet perfect. The leg length stops right below my knee pad and my socks come right up over them making the perfect fit! These are warm yet super breathable under my soft shell pants and move moisture better than anything I've worn. I didn't even notice they were wool until my wife pointed it out after a few test runs. I thought I was allergic to wool, guess not.

Warm, Good Fit, Great Length

By:
January 2, 2007

I purchased these for my foray back into skiing. I had my boots custom fit and I did not need to deal with the extra length of the typical pant bunching up in the boot, or cutting into my leg rolled up.
These were very warm for December Utah skiing/boarding and true to the description they store heat on the ride down and release it on the lifts. Highly recommended. Also not itchy at all.

Buy These

I was in the market for some new base layers for a while before I found these. I really like the 3/4 length for skiing and the comfort & warmth of these is killer. I would not say they are exactly odor free as Merino Wool boasts, but they definitely don't hold onto funk like your old Capilene does. Pick up a pair of these and join the Merino revolution, they are a fantastic piece for your winter clothing quiver.
