Heritage Kayaks Featherlite 12 Deluxe Kayak - 2009

The molded skeg on the Heritage Kayaks Featherlite 12 Deluxe Kayak means it’s actually possible to paddle in a straight line (no more desperate zig-zagging while your paddling partner quickly darts across the lake). Pads on the gunnel cushion your knees and the comfy, HiFlow 3-D Mesh seat keeps your back and butt happy while you paddle. Store lunch and beverages in the cockpit and stern hatch and secure a waterproof map under the front bungees. Heritage Kayaks made the vented seat from environmentally friendly materials and coated it with a solar-screen fabric for durability.

Write your question here...hello, looking at the heritage deluxe kayak...first one...intended use for going across a nearby lake that would be a couple of miles across...and that's at the shortest route...would like to eventually go around the lake as i get stronger. Maybe would take it camping and boating on a larger body of water in Ky...it is a relativlily calm lake. any suggestions for this first timer...?...I know should start smaller, for beginner...but enjoy this on vactions...and plan to make this part of my fitness routine. Thanks!

Well the recommended use for this kayak is Lakes, calm rivers, calm ocean water, touring, fishing. What your doing is basically going to be beginner touring and moving your way up. This boat will be perfect for you for starting out and making that transition to a more experienced kayak user.
