Helly Hansen Freeze 1/2-Zip Top - Men's

Helly Hansen's Freeze Half Zip Turtle baselayer top combines supersoft Merino Prowool and hollow T3 polypropylene for ultimate warmth and legendary LIFA moisture management. The bi-component knit of the Freeze puts the insulating wool on the outside to disperse outgoing moisture and create a lofted micro-midlayer, while the smooth, hollow polypropylene fibers against your skin transport sweat 40 times faster than polyester and trap heat using T3 Thermic Tube Technology. On cold winter runs, this top is all you need to keep warm and dry, and as a baselayer it stands up to freezing stop-and-go activities without ever feeling clammy, stuffy or itchy. In the spring, you can even wear the Freeze Half Zip under a softshell and leave your fleece at home.

Bottom Line: Become the first human polar bear—wear Helly Hansen Prowool.

Cold Be Gone

One of the best super warm baselayers I have had the pleasure of trying. The fabric is so nice, no itch, no binding, almost like a second skin. The sweat you work up from that 20 minute skin up from the lift is wicked away super fast, keeping you dry. The minus 30 celsius days are not an issue, this is great under midlayer and shell.

Dynamite. Freeze.

By:

I am so glad I got this on sale so I could afford to get two. Dig this, I am running outside, it's a partly cloudy 30 degrees. I have on a base layer tshirt, a base long sleeve, both are thin and spandexy, and the Freeze. I'm out 40 minutes, On the home stretch, I look to my right because something shiny or white catches my eye. It's FROST on my shoulder!! The thing was wicking and warming so well the sweat froze on my shoulder and upper back but I was still warm as pie. I say, 'Get it'.

wool

By:

If you've never been a fan of wool because it was itchy and didn't move well... this is leaps and bounds better, but it'll still irritate. I finally had to wear a layer underneath. Also wears on the small side and rides up in the pits. I'd suggest 1 size larger than what you normally get. Otherwise, warmth to weight ratio is super.

Best ever.

Absolutely best top I own. Versalite enough to be a baselayer or a solo top that is very warm. Keeps you dry and wicks sweat so fast you can see it bead up or mist off of you. Truly enjoy putting this on every time.
In Japan on a long trip, I wore this to run in and it didn't require washing until after 4 or 5 runs. Very strong moisture management and anti-microbial performance.
