GoLite Virga Jacket - Women's - 2007

Have you been trying to shave weight from your backpacking gear? Well, try switching to the eight-ounce GoLite Women's Virga Jacket for your weather protection. This GoLite jacket features waterproof breathable material, fully taped seams, and an articulated hood at about the same weight as your fleece. The Virga Jacket keeps you dry during a long-distance hike or a mellow camping trip on the weekends. Plus, it packs to about half the size of most waterproof shells.

Bottom Line: GoLite Virga Jacket is so light you'll think you forgot it at home.

GoLite Virga women's jacket

Ligtweight and easily packable into small spaces. Wish the hood had a draw string- it blows off in wind. Most importantly- keeps me dry so it gets the job done fairly well.

Somewhat Happy

I have been using it this summer, I like it for the most part, but the hood falls down over my eyes & there is no way to tighten it to prevent that from happening, so the hood is almost worthless to me. I got it for my backpacking trip in August, but I had to get a rain hat, because I couldn't see where I was going & in Alaska it is good to be able to see what is up ahead of you. Also the side pockets seem to be further back than most coats, just something to get used to.

Great Jacket.

The fit is a tad bit tight around the hips but I think it makes the jacket even more flattering. I got an XS and I am 5'1. The sleeve length was perfect, so was the length of the jacket. The Morning Glory color is actually a bright red and not pinkish as seen on the website. Its super light and compacts into my backpack's side mesh pocket (which is tiny!), for those just-in-case rainy days. Haven't been able to test it in a downpour. Protects well in windy days. Overall a great buy!

Very water resistant

The water beads right up when the drops hit this jacket. It's extremely light-weight and folds very compactly.

On me, it fits a little weird... a little tight around the hips. According to the size chart, I would wear a medium, but I ended up exchanging that for a large. Overall, a good buy.

Great Jacket

This jacket is awesome! It is very light and keeps any moisture off! When going out when there is a chance of rain it is great to stuff into a purse or backpack because it is so small. I wear size medium in The North Face & Patagonia jackets and the size medium of this jacket fit really nicely. I am always complimented on it's style.

Really liked it

This is a nice light jacket for wind and rain, but the best part is that it doesn't overheat you on those muggy, hot days. I used this in the Grand Canyon for a few day hiking trip. It was nice and light for traveling, I believe about 8 ounces, but totally did the job for wind, rain and warmth on the cool night. It is actually cute too. The color blocking is nice and slimming (which us ladies like). My only complaint is that the wrist elastic is a bit snug. I felt a little constrained on the wrists but it wasn't a big deal or any remote reason to return it. I really liked this jacket and totally recommend it over the Marmot Precip.
