GoLite Valhalla 4 Shelter 4-Person 4-Season

When the weather gods hurl their worst on your expedition, the GoLite Valhalla 4 Shelter provides a heavenly retreat. Single-wall tents rule for three reasons—light weight, light weight, and light weight. GoLite's Epic nylon overhead and a 3000mm waterproof floor assure you'll stay dry and cozy, while two generous mesh doors and dual side vents keep it breezy in the warmer half of the year. All that protection, plus enough space for three camping compadres, comes in at just about six pounds with poles and stakes included. We'll stand by while your mind explodes.

Bottom Line: The GoLite Valhalla 4 Shelter goes really, really light.

What is the difference between this tent and the Xanadu other that weighing more and costing 180.00 more dollars?

The Valhalla has the ability to close openings so that snow does not get in if drifting. The Xanadu openings are covered by nylon mesh but open to air. The Valhalla works if you are not in windy flying snow and is really well ventilated, otherwise go with the Valhalla.

Will this tent keep dust out in a high desert/high wind camping environment? If not, which tent do you think would be best.

Could I stargaze out of this tent? All the pictures I see of it have the yellow top, but I'm not sure if this is a rainfly or part of the tent. Please advise. :-)

yea after looking around i think that just the doors are No-see-um mesh. Everything else is just nylon so i dont think you would have much luck looking at the stars.

I live in the southeast, and there are ALWAYS mosquitos. Is it worth it to buy this instead of the ShangriLa 4+ Shelter, floor, and nest?

Dug, the Shangri La with the nest would work just fine. I don't think Angus realizes that the mesh nest is a one piece nest/floor. So if you purchased the tent plus the nest, you should have a good mosquitoe proof shelter...just keep that door zipped!

It depends on the relationship you have with the mosquitoes. If you are loath to deprive the little fellers of their evening feed, by all means go with a tent that is made essentially of panel gaps for them to fly through (the Shangri La). If you wish that they and all their disease-spreading, blood-sucking, itch-making ilk would be wiped off the face of the earth in a manner both painful and protracted (which I would guess is closer to the truth), then go for this one. Or any other tent where the floor, walls, and ceiling are all attached, really. This is a great tent though, and you won't find much lighter for the size.
