With waterproof breathable Gore-Tex PacLite material and a weight similar to most wind shells, the GoLite Women's Phantasm Jacket makes a solid choice for weight-obsessed mountain travelers. Though it weighs only 10 ounces, the seam-taped Phantasm Jacket keeps you completely dry in the worst mountain storms you encounter. GoLite added watertight zippers to increase moisture protection even further, and the adjustable hood seals you in from the nasty weather. Whether you go through-hiking or decide to tick a long alpine route, the GoLite Phantasm Jacket should be along for the ride.
Bottom Line: Bomber protection at a ridiculously low weight—meet the GoLite Phantasm Jacket.
This jacket fits very true to size with some wriggle room underneath if you need to add a light fleece. I wore it with a T-shirt in hailing/torrential downpour conditions and stayed relatively dry. Truly packs light and easy to throw into a side hip pocket for easy access anywhere. Long enough in the back to keep water off the butt and brim keeps water off the face. Sleeves long enough to keep wrists covered even when reaching up overhead. Tough shell stood up to hiking through sharp brambles and foliage. Ventilation wasn't as superior as I'd hoped as I did stay a bit clammy during the downpours, but maybe that was just because I was sweating profusely as well. Overall, great jacket for summer hiking conditions. I will be putting it the test under alpine mountain conditions this winter. Looking forward to it.
Is it wind proof or at least block some wind? I live in the Pacific Northwest. It can get windy, cold and wet around here. I need a shell to keep me warm and dry over a PrimaLoft jacket.
Excellent rain performance, dried very quickly, unbelievable for its weight. True to size if you account for a sweater or shirt underneath. Lip/rust color goes well with almost everything. Already recommended it & a friend bought one.
My body size doesnt match one size of the jacket, I am 92cm in the Chest (m), 76cm in the waist (L) and 86cm in the hips (xs) and 74cm in the Sleeve (xs). So can any tell me which would be the best size to go for or does this mean that this jacket is just not for me.
GoLite features more of a tight, athletic fit for running and hiking. You might want to try The North Face, Mountain Hardware or even Columbia jackets. Those brands might be more of a comfortable fit for you but it really all depends on your preference.
it's compact, it's light weight, it's rain proof...that's what I paid for, it's a great bargain! I've got it 'stowed' in my day pack for commuting to work in a small zip loc bag, & I take it out on the weekends for peak bagging. Super product, fits great, too! Can put my helmet on over the hood & not have rain drip down thru my hair, & it's very comfotable to hike in during a storm!
