GoLite Hex 3 Tent - 2007

The floorless GoLite Hex 3 Tent provides plenty of sheltered space for three campers at a low weight that any hiker or alpine climber can appreciate. A single 14-ounce pole supports this 1lb 12oz shelter from the center. You can also pitch the Hex 3 Tent with your trekking poles and leave the center pole behind to save more weight. The key to this GoLite shelter's low weight and four-season performance is its durable, waterproof SilLite nylon. This floorless tent sleeps three comfortably, makes a great cook shelter, and hardly adds any weight to your pack.

Bottom Line: Get a three-person shelter for less weight than most bivy sacks when you carry the GoLite Hex 3 Tent.

Super light, easy to set up and completely weatherproof

If you're looking for a lightweight tent/shelter this is definitely the way to go. Very easy to set up. You stake down the 6 corners, open up the door, put the pole into place and tighten up the straps on the stakes. You can also hang it from a solid branch/anything overhead and forget about the pole all together. You'll want to buy the nest that is available for the shelter. If you purchase the floor it does not completely seal off the outside world and some bugs may get in. You can avoid this by lining the outside of the tent with rocks if you can't find the nest in stock anywhere. There is plenty of room for 2 people with the pole, 3 would be a bit cramped. Without the pole you won't have a problem fitting 3 people in there. The hex shape of the tent holds up extremely well in high winds and I sat through a heavy rainstorm without any leakage. Overall I'm extremely happy with this tent and recommend it to anyone who wants a lightweight backpacking shelter that is simple to set up and performs as well as a tent twice it's weight.
