GoLite Den 2 shelter uses design to accomplish what others do with gadgets. This remarkably lightweight, 2-person shelter is perfect for those fast and light adventures where you still want full-tent protection and humidity isn't stifling. Its simple design erects in a flash so you don't waste valuable sleep time fumbling with parts and directions. Made with SilLite™ silicone-impregnated nylon, the body is burly yet ultra-lightweight. The floor is polyurethane-coated 6000mm nylon to provide extra weather protection where your body can cause pressure leaking. Saving weight, the Den 2 uses a forward-sloping angle at the door and an awning at the rear intake to keep out weather, shunning vestibules, a fly or other weighty bells and whistles. It comes with two Y stakes and six skewer stakes so you don't find yourself shrink-wrapped in a nylon cocoon about midnight. SilLite™ stuff sack and separate stake sack included.
Bottom Line: Shelter from the storm at less than three pounds – wow.
I've never slept in this tent, but I've seen it set up. Let's just say that you better be good friends with the other person you're sleeping with, because it's a tight squeeze.
The only reason why you would need a foot print for this particular tent is to prolong the life of the floor and possibly make the floor a tad more waterproof. I have been searching for a footprint specific to this tent but I can't find one and I'm assuming the reason for that is because most people buying a tent like this would feel that a footprint is just extra weight.
This golite shelter is one of the better "shelters" I've used. I put the quotations on there because this shelter is one step away from being a full on light weight tent. Great for weekend trips.
The front of this tent in the picture looks like it's made of mesh. If it is, is there and external fly included to stormproof it completely? Or is this "mesh" that I see really see-through nylon material?
Super light, sets up easily, packs up pretty small for a two person. Only problem i have with it is the material on the outside really attracts dust and its kind of hard to clean off. I especially like the zipper at the bottom which allows a little more ventilation or an area to cook if you dont want to get out of your tent.
I own this tent and i'm 6'5 as well. Worked fine for me. The only problem is it's a bit hard to sit up. Especially in the morning when the dew is in our tent...can get a bit chilly.
