The Giro Nine.9 MX helmet is rooted in freestyle but equipped with a visor for ripping backcountry and trees. It's all about the freedom of choice, so the visor and earpads are removable. In-mold construction fuses the outer shell and impact-absorbing liner, so it's not only tough but also super light. 12 mammoth vents grab cool, fresh air when you're riding or hiking for glory, and the waterproof Weatherstrip vent pugs stop snow and wind chill. The Nine.9 MX has a compact shape with wide-open field of vision and gapless goggle fit. The Nine.9 MX is TuneUps compatible. –Vendor
Bottom Line: Use your freedom of choice on the Nine.9 MX.
This helmet has saved my noggin more than once through skiing and extreme sledding. It's warm and light and comfortable. It also provides just the right amount of venting for those warmer spring days. I highly recommend this helmet.
Nice helmet. My old Giro S4 fit my large head a bit better, but you can get the tune-ups for this helmet. I also like the visor. This helmet is super lightweight and is not too hot, even on warm spring days.
Put this baby on and you're the next Pete Olenick. No kidding, a great looking dome-piece. It's very comfortable, and I was surprised at how warm it was, I ski out east and I was shocked that I didn't have brain freeze when the wind chill was down to about -5 F. I highly reccomend the red color, I love it, you can't miss it. Although the visor did lift the helmet slightly at high speeds, it was easily remedied with a camouflage bandanna. Every one will be looking up to you when you sport this helmet. It's good all around, even if you're not a jibber, I love it in the trees, keeps the branches away from your goggles. Don't wear this unless you are an experienced skier, otherwise you'll look like a poser.
My first time using a helmet. A very good experience. Extremely comfortable and warm. I highly recommend the stereo ear flaps. The sound and convenience was unbelievable.
I'm really happy with the Giro.9 MX. It's lighter than my old lid, so in comparison feels like I'm wearing nothing at all (cue Ned Flanders vision). It's also warm. Only drawback is the shim thing on the back of the helmet snaps loose sometimes, but it's only one snap and is a minor issue.
This helmet replaces an old Boeri, and it's SO much lighter, I can't even compare the two. I didn't go for the tuneups since you can always add them later, but even as a standard helmet, the MX rocks!
I have purchased 2-Giro 9 helmets. The first was its first year version, I think. The second one is the MX with the visor. Giro improved the way the ear muffs attach. If you need a helmet with lots of ventilation options this is the best. The visor helps with keeping the sun and small low hanging tree/bush branches away from your face. And when there is bad weather it helps deflect the elements.
