Garmont Xena G-Fit Alpine Touring Boot - Women's - 2008

The Garmont Women's Xena G-Fit Alpine Touring Boot keeps up with your hard-charging backcountry style. With the strength and power of standard alpine boots and the versatility of lightweight touring boots, these puppies do it all. The super-strong, double-injected cuff gives you the stiffness to push the biggest backcountry planks without a problem. The women's-specific G-Fit High W liner’s lace-up system allows you to dial your comfort whether you're on a long tour or just killing the steeps at your favorite resort. Forget switching between boots—the Xena has both Garmont’s Endorphin ski mountaineering soles and ISO alpine soles so you can power down on and off-piste slopes.

Bottom Line: You have a soul for the backcountry and for the resort. So do the Xenas.

so, this boot comes with two types of soles, one for Alpine touring and one for regular Alpine skiing. Is it possible to switch the soles back and forth, or once you have put on one type of sole are you stuck with it?

NO, you can switch. But if you have an AT binding then just keep the AT sole on and pray for snow!

Super comfortable

I love these boots. The insert made them the tiniest bit too tight, but with some nicer custom inserts and then a heat fitting, they fit perfectly. I used them on a recent two week touring trip in Argentina and lived in them. Great range of motion and nice break-in; no problems and I highly recommend them.

Great boots!

I wore these right out of the box with only minor adjustments and no heat fitting and have never had a problem. This includes long day and multi day trips. They are beefy and solid so you can actually enjoy your extreme downhill turns instead of doing the snowplow, knock-kneed survival skiing you sometimes see. The SAC cheap price is great! They are a decent colour too instead of the flashy neon orange/green/ etc.

The boot comes with two types of soles. The AT ski mountaineering sole is to be used with Alpine Touring bindings such as Fritschis, Naxos, Dukes, etc. If you are using the boots on skis that are mounted with alpine bindings, you need to make sure you have the ISO alpine soles mounted on them.
