Garmont Nasty Hiking Shoe - Men's - 2007

When you hit the trail, you can expect things to get nasty sooner or later. The Garmont Men's Nasty Shoe is ready for any fast-paced alpine assault you can dish out. The Nasty Shoe delivers ultra comfort and support when you need a lightweight answer to your clunky hiking boots. Don't get lightweight and flimsy mixed up though. The Nasty features a TPU spine for…, and a wrap-around EVA midsole for ankle-roll-resisting goodness on that aspen single track. The Nasty's tread design is nothing short of its namesake either—you'll stay planted in sketchy scree or buffed-out alpine glades.

Bottom Line: The Garmont Nasty Shoe is ready for any fast, nasty trail action.

Garmont Nasty Hiking Shoe

By:
May 21, 2008

For me 10.5 was a little big, but fit ok with sole insert. I did not find it as comfortable as any Keen I have ever owned, they do not breathe well. Also I believe the shoe is now discontinued. Overall, I do not really like them.

Update to previous review......

By:
December 27, 2007

My pair are now broken in - this model easily rivals my Maerrel Chamelon Wrap XCR GTX as the most comfortable shoe I own - I am not ready to crown the Nasty as THE favorite - I still need to determine the durability when compared to my faves. I stil highly recommend this shoe. Almost forgot - the traction is great, I feel safe when traversing challenging topography.

Sturdy Shoe - Beware of Size

By:
November 30, 2007

This shoe is very sturdy - I cannot comment on trail performance because I had to return the pair I ordered due to a sizing issue I had.....I recommend buying a half size larger - specifically to those people that (like me) enjoy more room in the toe box. I normally wear a 10.5, but I felt the tip of my toe kissing the inner most reaches of the shoe while wearing a thin sock. I will try to update my post after I break these bad boys in on some trails.

Garmont Nasty Hiking Shoe

By:
September 24, 2007

These are very comfortable but I will hold my review on durability since these are only 2 months old. I have another Garmont XCR II hiking shoe that neede to be replaced since the sole came uglued and started to fall off. Granted they were replaced by Garmont but the second pair is starting to have the same trouble. I will wait and see if this model is better

Garmont Nasty: Don't Bring It Home To Mother...

By:
July 27, 2007

These are perhaps one of the best pairs of hiking shoes I've ever worn. I broke them in on a 5 day backpacking trip in the 4 Pass Loop in the Maroon Bell range in CO. They are amazingly light and work well as a camp shoe. I wore them to scale a large rock slide area and they held up very well. The material allowed my feet to breathe rather well and the shoes also come with a sole insert if you want a firmer feel. I would only recommend using the inserts if you are standing on concrete and NOT scaling a cliff. The shoes are amazingly comfortable, and I wear them on a day-to-day basis. They sure were a treat to the feet to slip on after being in hiking boots all day (but isn't anything?). I highly recommend these shoes, both aesthetically and if you want something to allow you to scramble up some steep slopes. I used the free shipping and the shoes shipped quickly and arrived on time.

garmont nasty

By:

this shoe dries quickly unlike "waterproof" shoes. i think its better to let 'em dry rather than try (in vain) to keep 'em dry. they're kinda heavy for long distance hiking but durable, lasted 500 trail miles including all of rocky pennsylvania (bout 45 AT days) before taking on water through soles. they're cool too. like any shoe, if they fit you; they fit you. they fit me with a little break-in. considering another pair. did i mention how cool they are? plus feet feel safe from toe stubbing and sharp rock. decent wet rock grip. also safety from being more agile with this shoe. i don't remember ever falling while wearing my nastys.

nasty, nasty shoes

By:

tried these in my usual size and nothing hit where it was supposed to. one size smaller, arch and heel, toes and outsole all felt just right. great traction, which i really need on slick, wet rocks. form-fitted in no time flat. hope yours are as super footwear for you as Nasty is for me. cheers.
