With the Garmin MapSource US Topo CD and your PC, you can download topographic detail to your compatible GPS. This CD has the most detailed information available, making navigation through unknown territories as simple as walking to the grocery store. You'll see terrain contour, elevation information, shoreline detail, bathymetric contours, hiking and snowmobile trails and more. Nautical navaids for the 50 states including radiobeacons, RACONs, fog signals, and more. This CD contains digital topographic maps for the US, including Alaska and Hawaii that are comparable to the U.S. Geological Survey 1:100,000-scale paper maps. So-So Detail, But Universal Coverage

The 100k detail is only so-so, but you do get the entire country with universal coverage. For loading maps into a compatible Garmin mapping GPS unit, it works well, and is worth the price, but that's about the extent of its utility.
