GSI Outdoor Gourmet Backpacking Cook System - 2008
The GSI Gourmet Backpacking Cook System features a cook pot, fry pan, strainer lid, two mug and bowl sets, and a folding pot gripper. The cook set features a sleek nesting design, which compacts all of its components into the stuff sack for easy travel. Each mug and bowl set features an easy sip top for spill protection, and an insulated sleeve to keep your hot chocolate, well, hot. The nearly unbreakable strainer lid fits snugly so you don't spill hot water on yourself, or need to enact the five-second rule when the spaghetti hits the dirt. The rugged stuff sack holds the cook system and doubles as a washbasin or sink. Secure the mug and bowl sets in the pot, and stash your stove inside one of the mug and bowl sets. Fill the rest of the space in the cook pot with your fuel can, pot gripper, and utensils and stash your kitchen in your backpack.
Bottom Line: Everything your chef needs, and the kitchen sink.
Awesome, durable, light cook set. Hopefully the '09 lives up the the perforance of these. Used them with jet boil and more traditional coleman stove and they worked great. packs up unbelievably small with some extra room for matches, flint, small utensils, etc. love it!
GSI has thought of just about everything with this cook set. Everything is perfectly collapsable and the features are just plain awesome. It's super light and easy to use, everything packs up into one nice kitchen container, the drain on the lid is nice along with being able to see the food through the clear top, the detachable handle works well and feels sturdy. My only complaint is the lack of cozy on one of the cups? I don't understand why they didn't give you two cozys ...with my two cups. Owell. Great product!
Worked great on a backpacking trip. I was able to fit utensils, coffee, sugar, powdered milk, a couple of packets of oatmeal, and a coffee steeper inside (enough for 4 days); I was even able to fit my stove into one of the larger cups. The pan is a little unbalanced with the handle attached but not that big of a deal. Not too big, not too small; just big enough to cook good sized pancakes.
I like the set, it is really sweet, everything fits together well and my little stove/fule canister fit inside of it all too. Just so you know the pot and pan do have grooved bottoms on them, which makes it even better.
This was a far cry from the flying saucer wing nut crapola from my boy scout days!
This was perfect for me and a friend to trek in. I was able to carry all my utensils and cooking needs in the pot with everything else. I even carried eggs in the sealed cup and used tea bags to cushion them. All arrived safely!
this with a MSR Dragonfly was dreamy. Well and I take a Jetboil for my coffee fix as well.
And the "sink" is a really nice addition! Well done.
This set works really well for two. You can nest the cup and bowl to fit more items inside the pot, or not... It would be nice having a larger pot as well, but it is pretty rare that I want that, so this does work well. Pretty small package - and light.
