GoLite Lite-Speed Pack - 3000 cu in - 2007

A 3000cu inch volume gives the GoLite Lite-Speed Pack enough space for multi-day trips while its low 2lb 7oz weight makes it ideal for long adventure races. The space mesh back panel provides just enough support for your light load and allows for excellent breathability to help you stay cool on the trail. GoLite added a large front pocket to the Lite-Speed Pack, so you have a place to stash your rain shell and stocking hat within easy reach. The hip-belt pocket keeps your compass handy while the hydration sleeve holds your favorite hydration bladder to do the same for water.

Bottom Line: Take on week-long trips with day-pack weight thanks to the GoLite Lite-Speed Pack.

Very comfortable

I love this pack. I also have a tendency to bring way too much stuff with me.

The GoLite Lite-Speed -3000 pack fits me incredibly well. I use it as a daypack even though it is large for that purpose. It fits my back/shoulders and carries the loads better than my more appropriate size daypack. I can fit my rain shells (tops and bottoms) and a warm fleece and my lunch and camera and other essentials and feel more comfortable than if I jammed it all in a smaller pack.

Before you mock my overpacking, let it be known that as a backpackin' mama I tend to throw stuff for the kiddos in my pack, too. The extra space really helps.

I like that it has a collapser so if I am carrying a very small amount, it doesn't flop around at all.

I really like the little pockets on the waistbelt. Handy little things are perfect for a power bar, chapstick, tissues and other small items.

It isn't big enough for me for multi-day trips, but it is great for the way I use it. I use a GoLite Galaxy (now out of production) for multi-day trips. I love it, too.

I have had people on the trail ask about it. I have nearly had to fight to get it back a few times. It is so comfortable!

How do you adjust the stays? No instructions came with the pack

How do you adjust the stays? No instructions came with the pack and I have not found any info on Golite site.

Got answer from Golite. Basically take frame sheet containing aluminum stays out of the pack.Place frame against back to determine where adjustment is needed. Bend stays appropiately, bending across knee is fine. Replace frame sheet with stays back in pack slot.

great!

I ordered this actually by mistake, thinking it was a smaller daypack. It's pretty big- not as big as long-trek packs but certainly large enough for weekend backpacking trips. However once it came I loved it so much I decided to keep it and get rid of my old backpacking pack. I love the most that it doesn't have a lid- those are always in the way for me, but it does have a great large zipper pocket on the inside of the top (behind your head, if you are wearing it). Same function as a lid pocket, with the lid being in my way. It's also very light (of course) and comfortable.

I've carried the GoLite Lite-Speed Pack pack onto a plane before without a problem. You should be fine.

GoLite Speed Pack

By:
September 26, 2008

This pack has lots of great features. First, its very light, but feels even lighter has the support you get through the waist belt and the shoulder straps are very comfy and sturdy. Second, when full of gear, the pack remains close to your body. The waist belt also has pockets in them to hold whatever you need - trail food, headlamp, whatever.

If you are looking for a fast pack, the GoLite Speed Pack is a great choice. Though there are lighter packs out there, the 2.7oz pack makes up for it in ease and convenience.

You bet it does, it's kind of large to not have anything really. There are two internal aluminum stays for the frame of the material, and they're pretty darned adjustable.

Great Multi-Use Pack

By:
November 7, 2008

This pack does it all. When stuffed completely full of clothes and gear, it still fits perfectly in a United overhead compartment. It works just as well for a day at the crag or light ski touring. Although there are definitely more specialized packs that do a better job, this is a great all-around solution.

Any small pack will work for you just make sure it has a torso adjustment so you can dial-in the correct size.

Durable Serious Pack

By:
April 21, 2009

I love this pack!!! I have over 70 miles on it carrying 20-25lbs and I just can't say enough about it. The suspension is comfortable and close. It rides quiet and comfy and the open compartment construction makes it versatile for all types of gear. I've been through normal rain without trouble. I've been abusing it horribly on snags and sharp rocks but it bears no hard feelings. I cannot find signs of wear at all. I irresponsibly threw it off a 20ft wall with 15lbs of gear in it. The molded back sheet and stays took no dammage!! The only thing I might have done differently if I was designing the bag would be to make at least one of the waist belt compartments waterproof for electronics. Prepurchase, I was a bit conserned about the fact that I'm a bit blocky in my build hence I didn't get the women's pack. The suspension works for me just great. If you want a comfortable, durable, lightweight pack without the gimmicks that other packs put in your way then this is the one! Oh yeah... and people keep asking if they can try it on along the trail. Lots of positive feedback.

what is hydration compatibility mean?

Hydration compatible generally means there is a dedicated sleeve that will fit a hydration reservoir / bladder such as the Camelback, Platypus, MSR Hydromedary etc... in place. The tube from the bladder is then fed through an opening in the pack and allows for nonstop easy drinking via a bite valve. Hydration bladder systems allow for more hassle free drinking.

Golite next time!

This pack has a hydration sleeve that is stretch with a hanging cord, plenty of room for gear food and anything else you need to carry with you. the strap system on this is extremely comfortable and is form fitting to you to reduce swing in the pack. The chest strap has a built in whistle in case you get lost, or just want to get some hottie hikers attention on the trail!
