GoLite Jam 2 Backpack - Women's - 2600 cu in - 2007

GoLite created the Jam 2 Pack for women who want a ridiculously light backpack that doesn't have all the bells and whistles of today's wonderbricks. At 1lb 6oz, the Women's Jam 2 Pack easily pleases the ounce-counting obsessions of through-hikers and alpine climbers. This lidless pack has a foam back panel to provide enough support for your lightweight weekend gear, and it moves with you as you climb or hike. GoLite added a large front pocket to hold those small items that would usually go in the lid, so you don't have to dig in the 2,800cu inch main compartment for your headlamp.

Bottom Line: Shave weight from your load—hit the trails and mountains with the 1lb 3oz GoLite Women's Jam 2 Pack.

Wonderfully versatile

I bought this pack originally intending to use it for everyday commutes to work, and to comfortably haul a few days' worth of clothes and other necessities on weekend trips to various cities in Germany. While in Germany, I ended up also doing some camping around the national parks there. This backpack worked extremely well, expanding to hold gear and food enough to sustain one person over three days and two nights, with a reasonable level of comfort for a very lightly padded pack. When it's lightly filled, I hardly notice I have a backpack; it's so comfortable and light. Having only one pocket is somewhat of an annoyance each time I need to dig for my wallet when the pack's completely full, but an acceptable one. I love how it compresses to be nearly the size of hydration backpacks, when I go for long bike rides. Largely waterproof, but bring a garbage bag or pack cover if you're expecting heavy showers. Excellent for everyday use and ultralight backpacking for short durations in warm weather.

Lightweight yet durable

This pack has gone canyoneering, rock climbing, mountaineering in Ecuador, backpacking in the Adirondaks, and has carried my gear for many trips for the past four years. It's only got a few scuffs on it and has held up great. It's a nice all around pack - simple, lightweight, but still durable enough to do it's job well.
