Been wearing Giro helmets for years. This is by far the best fitting one I've had. I love the adjustability. Not sure about the wireless description on the web page. That's definitely not correct. I saw one review about Bluetooth. That's definitely wrong as well. It's wired to listen to an Ipod or what have you. Would recommend.

The description of this product states that it has blue tooth, but there is no bluetooth about it. The word "bluetooth" is not even mentioned in the description on the box or in any of the instruction manuals. When I called Backcountry for help their "gear guru" confirmmed that there was no bluetooth built into this helmet. They did let me send it back and even paid for shipping, but I was very disappointed that the product did not match the description. Probably a great product if you don't care about bluetooth.

What's the point? Just don't turn on the BT. If you're asking if you can use the Bluetooth on its own with no wires, then no.

The little black box with the bluetooth goodness caused the sound to be very scratchy. I didn't want to find out that the quality assurance of the electronic bits was the same as that of the protection bits just after I hit a tree. I ordered another helmet from a different brand.

This is the first time I have ever worn a helmet skiing. I got the helmet with the audio option and it worked out great. The helmet was comfortable and the IPOD connection worked as expected.

got this off tramdock a little while back and finally used it for the first time. kills me ears, even if i'm not wearing it tight. can i fix this? if not can i return it and wait for a different one to popup on tramdock?

If you get a helmet with audio in the ears, expect it to hurt your ears. Some hurt more than others.The inherent problem is that a helmet must be tight in order to effectively protect you. With a padded ear part, it's not a big deal. Once you start throwing the inner workings of a headphone in, it's not nearly as comfortable. If you want to overcome this, the best thing to do is take the ear pieces off, ride with earbuds in and a beanie over to keep your head warm/earbuds in. I've tried many different helmets, and everyone with headphones in it hurt me, and those without didn't.

Bluetooth is a wireless protocol, so why does the picture show a wired ipod? Can I play my wired ipod Shuffle with this helmet?

Here's how it would be set up. You have your iPod connected via the wire in one pocket, your phone connected via Bluetooth in another pocket. When the phone rings, the earpiece alerts you and you answer it by pushing the button on the wire.
