The Giro G10 MX Helmet gives you protection, versatility, and style all rolled up into one killer design. Utilizing in-mold construction, Giro bonded a plush EPS liner to a tough polycarbonate shell, creating a lightweight, durable, and well-ventilated brain bucket. The G10 MX Helmet comes equipped with a removable visor to shade your eyes in the backcountry, but this helmet's core identity remains in freestyle. 14 vents with on-the-fly adjustable control keep your head comfortable, while the Goggle Notch channel keeps your goggles in place with a gapless, flush fit. The G10 MX is compatible with Giro's TuneUps audio system (sold separately).
I really like this helmet, super light, comfy, good fit with most goggles, there is a small gap on between the top of my goggles and the helmet, but I wear a baclava underneath anyway, so it's no big deal, the center visor mount broke when i face planted once and I attempted to glue it down, but it didn't really work, it kind of bounces around now...
It's so light that you don't realize you're wearing it. It's warmer than most ski hats, but you won't overheat because you can open and close the ventilation system on the fly. Other than that, it's just plain sexy.
I purchased the G10 MX Helmet partway through the 2005-2006 season and it is, without a doubt, the best helmet I've worn. I wore a Boeri Axis Pro for about 30 days this season, the Boeri Tactic for about 30, and the G10 MX for about 40, and the Boeri's don't even compare. I am a ski instructor in Winter Park, CO, and my helmet is on my head all day, every day. I have found the G10 to be lighter, cooler, and more comfortable than any of the other helmets I've used.
The Giro G10 MX is a nicely weighted helmet. Light enough that you'll barely notice it's there, but heavy enough to take a whack and come back for more. I used to wear a Leedom Scream and the weight difference is incredible along with the comfort of the 3/4 shell. I've added the TuneUpsII kit and that turns it into a pretty sweet sound system as well. The only thing about it is the visor. I like it for crashing through branches and keeping the trees ugly mitts off my goggles and face, but I can see how it would be unnecessary weight for a lot of people. Vents well, but not as warm as my old Leedom, but that's when I was in 0F Maine weather. I've never been cold with the G10 here in Utah.
I love the style of this helmet, and it is one of the lightest helmets I have put on. Even though it is light, its stronger than you think. It has saved my quite head a few times. The only problem I have though is that it costs a bit too much but if you have the money for it, buying it will not be a waste.
It is my first helmet, although I've been skiing for quite a few years now. Before buying the G10MX, I was checking out a few other brands, but they all seemed more uncomfortable. I had a lot of difficulty deciding my size. According to the size chart, I should be M, but my measurement of the head is just lower than L, so I had to go in a shop here in Japan and measure both M and L from the G10 series. My suggestion is if you are between sizes, buy the bigger. Otherwise I have been wearing it for 3 days in a row, and it feels great. When I'm walking though, my head starts sweating almost immediately, so I'd say great for skiing, and almost great for just moving around in low speeds. If you like the design, buy it. The price is very reasonable.
Awesome helmet. It doesn't even feel like you have a helmet on. It fits well with Oakley A frames. The ventilation controls come in handy. Its the first and only helmet I will ever buy.
This helmet is one of the most comfortable I've tried on and that's why I ended up buying it. Lightweight means you never even notice it on. I wanted something with adjustable vents since I don't even wear a beanie because I get to hot and it's magic!
This helmet is super light, but still has held up to the beatings I've given it. (and myself for that matter) I got the tune-ups with mine and those things can bomb! I love the way the visor looks, but it doesn't really block any sun.
I got a small that fits my 22inch noggin pretty great. Nice fitting and doesn't feel heavy when I swing my head left or right. The visor adds a spiffy look as well.
I bought this helmet mostly because I liked the visor and thought it would keep the sun out of my eyes. It more or less works for that (though not as effective as I had hoped). But if you like to ski in goggles, the visor makes it pretty difficult to put the goggles up on the helmet. Mine won't stretch enough to lift over the visor. I mostly ski in sunglasses, so it's not a big deal, but if I always wore goggles, the visor would be a little annoying. But it's warm as can be, even on sub-zero mornings, works with my old Tune-Ups from an earlier helmet, and fits great.
