As Garmont's burliest women's-specific telemark boot, the Elektra rocks both off-piste and on with awesome power and strength. This telemark ski boot’s tough Pebax shell and four lightweight magnesium buckles drive your super-fat boards through crud, mank, or on boilerplate without a sweat. Use the walk mechanism to secure the cuff into a 19 or 24-degree lean position, and leave the lever up for smooth walking. The women's-specific G-fit High thermo-moldable liner uses a low-volume shape for slop elimination and all-day comfort.
Bottom Line: The Elektras are looking for a high-speed freerider.
They are super warm and ridiculously comfortable. Don't want to take them off after a full day of skiing. Plenty of boot - I am 5'10" and 165 pounds and an aggressive skier.
Is there a difference between these two? Year? Why the dramatic price difference??? http://www.backcountry.com/store/GAR0223/Garmont-Elektra-Telemark-Ski-Boot-Womens.html vs. http://www.backcountry.com/store/GAR0153/Garmont-Elektra-Telemark-Ski-Boot-Womens.html
The less expensive ones at http://www.backcountry.com/store/GAR0153/Garmont-Elektra-Telemark-Ski-Boot-Womens.html have a tag which says "Elektra Mg G-Fit" are different from these (sku GAR0223) in several ways.
On the cheaper MGs (sku GAR0153) - The buckle levers are different. (I'll post photos) - It says "Elektra Mg" on the exterior toe of the boot. The boot on this page says only "Elektra" on the toe. - The ski/walk lever on the back is different then the boot on this page. - The liners are thermofit but look different than the boot on this page.
Sorry I personally can't tell you which is better! :) I can only tell you what is different. But I'll bet a Backcountry Gearhead would know the answer. Photos to come.
Mg G Fit is on the left (sku GAR0153). G Fit (sku GAR0223) is on the right, and is the boot advertised on this page. Notice the difference between the thermofit liners, buckles, ski/walk lever and the "Mg" on the toe of the boot on the left. There was a big price difference in these 2 boots.
Garmont boots typically fit a wider foot. My girlfriend cannot wear Scarpa's because they are too narrow but she has used Garmont Venuses and she liked them a lot more. As for sizing, according to the Garmont website they only go down to a 23 but you could always call them directly and find out.
