G3 Targa T/9 Telemark Ski Binding

Lightweight and reliable, the G3 Targa T/9 Telemark Ski Binding thrives on backcountry hikes and inbound groomers. With G3's new TourThrow heel lever, this binding increases your uphill touring efficiency. Flip the heel piece down for low cable-resistance uphill, and flip it up for your downhill assaults. The Targa T/9 Binding's stainless steel toe bar keeps your boot secure in front, and the aluminum toe plate and heel tube decrease weight without sacrificing strength.

Bottom Line: Ski inbounds or continue your quest for untouched powder in the backcountry with the G3 Targa T/9 Telemark Ski Binding.

I am interested in buying this for my husband, an advanced to extreme type skier (was a heli ski guide) who wears a size 13 tele boot. I heard there are issues with the Targa T9 if a guy is big and aggressive. Do I need to worry about this, or is the binding a good choice? He has the normal G3 Targe right now, needs a new binding.

Weak toeplate

By:
February 20, 2009

The toe plate (black part between the riser and anti-ice plate) is weak on the T/9s. I was skiing at a resort in 40 degree weather and cracked the aluminum at all 4 screw holes. One ripped all the way through, bending and breaking the plate beyond repair. It's 40 bucks for a new toe plate, and I'm going to replace it with the normal stainless Targa version instead or the aluminum.

I dig 'em. No problems. I'm also of the school of the Rainey Super Loops and I loved those. Still have them.

The T/9 bindings have an aluminum plate in them which makes them lighter them the stainless steel on the regular Targas. Although they are light, the luminum can crack in very cold wether.

That's the different stiffness levels of the cartridges, in the order you listed them from most to least stiff.
