G3 Climbing Skins with Tip and Tail Connection - 2004
G3 revamped their skins to produce a bomber, easy-to-manage skin with the latest technology and a tip and tail connection that can't be beat. G3 climbing skins are engineered with a reformulated temperature-tolerant adhesive that makes them manageable at a wide range of temperatures. A unique hydrophobic yarn virtually eliminates water retention and ice build-up, and it makes these skins unlike anything you've used before. What you get is a supple, quick-drying, and packable skin with improved glide and unbelievable durability. With the handy, easy-to-use trim tool, new skins can be custom trimmed to the shape of your skis for maximum traction. *When sizing skins, choose a width that's larger than the widest part of your ski and trim down accordingly for full coverage of base. **Allow skins to dry completely before storing them in their bag.
These skins are easy to trim to size. I had to go to another source for oversize tip loops for my fairly wide skis. These skins carried me up Berthoud Pass Colorado many times yesterday, and they had no problems on the steepest terrain I encountered.
Once I got the skins dialed in to my Tele Daddies, they work great. No slippage, easy on/off, great tail retention system. Just make sure, if you have huge wide skis, that the tip loop is big enough to fit.
Loving the new G3 skins! I have many days on them and they provide great traction on the steepest of slopes. The glue works well in any condition. I found you will need to buy an extra large tip loop for the larger board's. I purcashed some for my Volkl Gotama's and it works fine.
The changes G3 made for this year's skins are definitely an improvement. They climb well, and the adhesive keeps them on the skis. I still notice some patches of adhesive missing after peeling them apart while cold, but these are much less prominent than my older model. The tail clips are cumbersome to deal with as they do not maintain their adjustment between uses.
I used my new climbing skins a few days ago on a day ski tour above Garden City, Utah, near Bear Lake. Myself and two friends skinned up to a high ridge and made several telemark ski runs down, skinning up after each run. The skins worked perfectly, and they were easy to put on and remove from the skis. Thank you for an excellent product.
