Faction Skis Royale Ski

Faction's Royale is a fat ski with tip and tail rocker, ideal for big switch landings in deep pow. If you think most rockered designs are too floppy, the Royale is where you want to be. It's a tad stiffer than most of its de-cambered brethren, and features a flat midsection to keep you from spinning out on hardpack.

  • 15/300mm tip and tail rocker for powder float
  • Flat camber midsection with 901mm running length
  • Anti-chipping sidewalls and full-wrap one-piece edges for durability

Bottom Line: You know what they call a Quarter-Pounder in France?

Favorite Ski I Own

By:
November 17, 2009

Full disclosure, I ski for them, but I would ride this ski regardless. I've skied most of the big brands pow skis, and I would take out the Royale over any of them. Similar to a Hellbent, but stiffer and not quite as rockered. I like it better, it gives it a better all around ride, without losing the pow skiing benefit. It could still arc on a groomer. I stopped riding all my other skis as soon as I got this one. Now if it would just snow this season, so I can get back to using it.

Solid Rockered Twin

The Royale is solid. It's stiffer and heavier than your average rockered pow surfer. I'm thinking it's purpose built for inbounds crud skiing. It's a very stable, yet fluid and nimble ride in 2 o'clock pow (hammered crud), rides forward or switch with ease, and is a stomp platform when it's time to air. I loved it at the Bird and hike-to stuff at Jackson, but hated skating out of Granite Canyon. It's got some beef to it...
