Fischer Snowbound Ski - 2008

Fischer built the Snowbound Ski for cross country tours that have you hiking up steeper terrain and making gentle turns down sloping hills. The Mountain Crown climbing scales glide effortlessly above the snow, but bite down hard when you put your weight on them. Steel edges carve beautiful turns in the white and air channels inside of the fiberglass-wood core create a strong, lightweight touring ski that boldly skis long distances without weighing you down.

Bottom Line: Tour of beauty.

Hello, I am interested in this ski, but am unclear as to sizing. I am a 145# woman and think that the 169 cm. would be correct. What do you think?

Fischer Snowbound Ski

By:
April 13, 2009

I've skied on skinny skis for 35 years now (I'm 60)and decided to get a set of backcountry skis for a change. I bought the 199 cm Fischer Snowbound's and W-O-W, what a change. I love these skis. I live in Washington state and ski across the state line in Oregon in the Blue Mountains. I went up last week for the second time on these skis and did 6 miles of backcountry skiing. All types of terrain and Spring corn snow. I can't believe the control I get with the metal edges and how much easier it is to ski than on the skinny skating skis. Now if I can learn to telemark I'll be in 7th heaven. Undoubtedly one of the best purchases I've made in a long time.

Sure, I would put risers on them too. I ski the Fischer Boundless with this setup and it is fantastic. You will want a heavier boot though.see www.voile-usa.comsee the 3-pin HD mountaineerhere are the risershttp://www.backcountry.com/store/VOL0063/Voile-V-Series-Binding-Risers.html

Stability plus

By:
March 11, 2009

I learned to cross country on a set of Country crowns, a much thinner ski without metal edges, and I have to say that I love the stability of the Snowbound Crown much more. I feel much more confident on the hills on the Golf course I ski on, I go much faster, and get a better workout. I'm 6'3" 225 lbs. (and dropping because of these skis!). I have the 195s. They are plenty of ski for me. These skis, the Alpina BC 2050, and the Rotella NNN BC bindings will take you anywere you want to go.

Yes, these do have a full metal edge for greater control. To the best of my knowledge, the edges are "cut."
