Fischer Watea 94 Alpine Ski - 2007

The Fischer Watea 94 Alpine Ski stands second in line to the freeride throne behind the Watea 101 but, just like a young prince should be, it's livelier and more fun all-around. Replacing the Atua for 07 / 08 with a waist that's 2mm slimmer but a slightly wider shovel, the Watea 94 excels at all-mountain terrain and has a quicker turn-in than last year for a snappy, light feel and great versatility. Fischer's carbon I-Beam technology replaces sections of the wood core with airweight carbon stringers that lighten the load in fluffy powder, but rail out hardpack with plenty of stability at speed. The Watea 94 might not be as beefy underfoot as its older siblings, but its capability in all types of snow makes it a favorite among resort skiers and backcountry enthusiasts.

Bottom Line: The Fischer Watea 94 trims some fat from the powder king to reign as the people's favorite.

There's no reason why it shouldn't. 94mm under foot isn't too bad for ice and hard pack. These days, the fatter ski's are becoming more versatile than they have previously been. Make sure you stick with a ski with a wood core for those kinds of conditions (like this one). All I ski on is east coast hard packed groomers and ice so I'm pretty familiar with it.
