Fischer Porohete 106 Alpine Ski - 2006

Powered by a bombproof wood core that's surprisingly lightweight and nimble, the 106mm-waisted Fischer Porohete Alpine Ski is built to do one thing, and do it well: float pow at ridiculous speeds. From stomping huge cliff hucks to catching the rope drop on a powder day and leaving the crowd behind, these skis are the ultimate big- mountain choice. Sometimes you've gotta get down some skied-out junk and the occasional groomer—the Porohete Ski offers enough sidecut and torsional stiffness to navigate these occasional pow-less situations without flinching. These skis have a light-footed snap that'll put a smile on your face.

Bottom Line: A pow-skiing force to be reckoned with—the Fischer Porohete Alpine Ski.

Love them

Bought a pair and I think they're great. They're soft enough to turn in tight spots but plenty stable at speed. I found them pretty adaptable to all conditions when skiing Whistler and hitting the groomers is the way out at the bottom. I ski around 35-40 days per year, so was a little daunted by the 195cm pro-ski models of some of the fat skis. These in the 190cm length were a good choice - I found them a great upgrade from my Dynastar 8800's.

Great Powder Ski

By:

These are a great pair of deep powder skis to add to your collection. The wood core makes them heavy, but they are still surprisingly nimble in the deep stuff. They are pretty difficult to ski on groomers and hard pack, so I wouldn't buy these as an only pair of skis. If you're looking for a great pair of powder-only boards, then this is the ticket. They really move and float in the deep, and they are fun as hell to ski. Wouldn't put a backcountry rig on these due to the weight of the ski.
