Extrasport Gauge Life Jacket

You want to be safe on your paddling adventures, but you don't want to strap into a blocky lifevest. Extrasport made the Gauge Life Jacket with large arm holes and a low profile, so your stroke isn't inhibited during kayak and canoe trips. Because let's face it, no one wants an interrupted stroke. Extrasport's RetroGlide system makes adjusting the fit of the Gauge Life Jacket quick and easy—just pull on the side webbing to tighten the sides and shoulders. Neoprene sides won't chafe, and fleece-lined pockets warm your hands on chilly river trips.

Bottom Line: Extrasport's Gauge Life Jacket turns “stroke, str—argh this stupid jacket is so uncomfortable” into a smooth “stroke, stroke, stroke”.

Good all around PFD

By:
December 18, 2008

Hardly notice that I'm wearing a PFD when this sucker is on. I've got broad shoulders and it does rise a bit more than I'd like but for the most part it's a very solid PFD. And the front pocket is super handy for holding everything from a digital camera to a PBR.

The life jacket has a buoyancy of 16lbs 13 oz. This means you can put a lead weight of 16lbs 13oz on the life jacket and it will float. It would probably be a great all around life jacket for canoeing, playboating, kayaking. If you are planning on paddling high volume water such as the Stakine, you may want a high float life jacket with more buoyancy.

Fancy PFD!

By:
May 21, 2008

I use this PFD when I go sailing. It offers complete freedom of motion and doesn't get caught up in any of my clothing. The weight of the PFD has yet to exhaust my neck or shoulders, so wearing it for long periods of time has been both safe and pleasurable!

I forgot to mention the kangaroo pocket is very useful for hiding snacks or digi cams.
