The Exped SynMat has me converted. WOW! I don’t think I’ve ever had a much better sleep when camping minus that one time when that bottle of whiskey was consumed but that’s another story. Give your Therm-a-…something or another to your bud to sleep on cause you’ll never go back to that thin pad that half way kept you comfortable and warm when camping. The extra weight shouldn’t deter you from getting one either since the reward of getting that extra comfortable shut eye is well worth it. You’ll be hooked once you sleep on one. Drop the dough and get one!

I love this pad. I had a thermarest prolite but just purchased the synmat 7. It's a little heavier but you will sleep like you're at home in bed with this mat so the extra weight is worth it for me. The pump is easy to use and doesn't take that much time to blow up..maybe 2.5 minutes. The only thing my thermarest will be used for now is a loaner to buddies that don't have a sleeping pad. Buy this pad and you will sleep great!

This is the best pad I own and I have a few. I didn't like the external pump of my downmat and switched to the synmat. You lose a tiny bit of R value but unless you're on top of everest you won't miss those extra 2 R value points. NOTE: the new downmats are available with an integrated pump, this is because I bought 2 synmat 9DLX pads and exped likes to tease me.

What you lose in insulation compared to the downmat you gain in an integrated pump, which works great (those who hate it aren't doing it right) and you also save roughly $60 in price.

I've used this pad in some VERY cold temps with just a light summer weight sleeping bag and remained comfy all night long.

Not many pads allow you to drop it in the snow and take a nap in just a long sleeved shirt.

Oh, this will keep you VERY warm, it's like adding 20 degrees to your sleeping bag, keep this in mind when packing for a trip, you can use a lighter weight sleeping bag when combined with this pad.

This is the lightest and smallest packed fully insulated 3 or 3.5" sleeping pad out there.

Oh and the 26" model fits perfectly into a Big Agnes park series sleeping bag.

Don't let the "Not a fan of the pump" scare you away from this one, it's FANTASTIC! I have never slept well on camping trips, but was ecstatic after waking up from a great night's sleep on this pad. I couldn't believe it, -5 F and my backside was warm and no aches and pains. The pump is so easy, just cover the air hole with the palm of your hand and press, let off on the rebound, takes only a minute to pump all the way up. My buds were so jealous that an air mattress would keep me so warm in the winter. And it rolls up so small, no more pad strapped to the side of my backpack and getting knicked up whenever I got a little careless with it. This one's a keeper.

This is a nice pad for basecamping if you dont need expedition type protection. I had another "three" season mattress only good to 35-40 degrees.This pad kept me toasty with 30 deg bag down into the low twenties my most recent outing.Cheaper than the 4 season down vrsion and the cadillac for comfort!

This pad is quite light and packs small. I like the integrated pump, but my wrist gets a little sore pumping it up inside the tent....that's probably more a function of old, injured wrists however. I like that the support is adjustable.
