Eureka Autumn Wind 2XD Tent 2-Person 3-Season - 2009

The Eureka Autumn Wind 2XD Tent comfortably sleeps two adults. Its sturdy three-pole design withstands strong mountain gusts, and if your tent-mate is creating gusts of his own, a side door lets you escape into fresh air without steamrolling your flatulent friend on the way.

  • Full coverage fly for three-season weather protection
  • Multiple mesh panels create excellent ventilation
  • Internal mesh storage pockets for flashlight, books, etc.
  • Large vestibule for gear storage
  • Dome shape increases stability
  • Compact & lightweight for longer trips

Bottom Line: The Eureka Autumn Wind 2DX—the tent with an escape route.

Cozy little tent!

Not the lightest tent, but I certainly like it. The description listed here is pretty accurate. The rainfly provides great coverage while still providing great ventilation. With the rainfly off you will have really great ventilation, providing a very "opened up" feeling in the tent. The vestibule provides plently of space for two bags if you have someone with you. The double door system is a great feature seeing as once you and another are bedded down it's pretty close quarters. So you won't be climbing over someone to get out. If you are looking for ultralight, don't go this route. If you don't mind the weight this is a good choice.

This is my first purchase of a backpacking tent so this might

This is my first purchase of a backpacking tent so this might be a stupid question but when i look at the picture of the tent without the fly there is a lot of open mesh. Is that what the tent looks like set up, like everyone can look in your tent or is there something to cover that up without totally the whole with the fly?

Actually, it's not so much the case with 4 season tents. Three season tents, however, utilize the mesh as ventilation so as to keep condensation at bay while camping in the summer. The fly covers the tent and offers wind/weather protection, but yeah, the top of the tent body is mostly mesh to increase ventilation.

That's usually how it works. You have to have the fly up to fully cover the tent.

Great for sleeping in

Sets up quickly and with the rain fly secured is very stable. I like the large main door shape and location - worked well for accessing the pack in the vestibule. With the mesh door I was able to do little star gazing and have the fly on while keeping the bugs out. The stuff bag is extra roomy so you don't need to roll everything up super tight to get it in. I strapped mine to the bottom of my pack so a little extra bulk didn't matter. It might be a little heavy to some people but it is probably average. A little small for two adults and since it slopes and narrows in the back you MAY not want to use it if you both will be doing a lot of sitting up and spending time in it during the day. I didn't try out the side door so I can't comment on it merits.
